I found a rare bp with these stats.
18%ed
3 str
50 life
4 mana
12% fire res
I don't have a clue on what's popular mods on armors in classic, but the 50 life is rather nice I think. Is it worth keeping and what char would be best off with it if it is?
Its not very good, an armor needs 2 resists to be good. The most popular mods are resists, fhr, life, str and dextarity, and replenish life

Well, considering the fact you're new the armour is okay. The huge life bonus can be very useful.
Anyway, the mods people look for in armour are:
Faster Hit Recovery
40+Life
20%+ Dual or Tri Fire/Light or Cold resists. Poison is NOT popular.
Strength
Dexterity (To a lesser extent)
Poison Length Reduction
They'll look for Defence only in Ornate plates
Mana
(Socketing)
They'll mainly like it socketed with P Ruby, P Amethyst and occasionally something else.
Ideal Godly Armour:
24% Faster Hit Recovery
98 to Life
9 to Strength
25% Fire Res
25% Cold Res
Socketed with Perfect Ruby (+38 to life off of base 60)

Ideal armor mods for me would be:
24% Faster Hit Recovery
60 Life
+10 Replentish (5 + 5 from skull socket
+15% mana regeneration
30 Cold Resist
30 Lightning Resist
30 Fire Resist

Replenish Life is useless, bar none. I don't see why people like it so much. And I went semi-godlyesque- not perfect armour... which I agree that yours isn't.
I gotta agree with that Classics - is it only because using healing pots in duels is bad form that anyone would want life replenish? It still sucks since you need about 10 life repl. to gain 1 HP per second IIRC. You're going to have to run around in the Moor for quite a while to get much life back :P
Is socketing skulls in armor done very much? I can't think of why anyone would choose that over a ruby...

ok ill tell you 3 reasons why replentish is superior to life.
1st if your a maxed energy shield sorc. you are going to have very little life. and tons of damage reduction. lets say you have 40 replentish. you can replentish completely in less than a min.
lets say you are a different char. fighting a sorc.
if you have really good resists you won't take much damage. but a sorc can keep teleporting around you slowly taking you down. if you have replentish you can almost negate their damage. or force them to try to take you down faster. giving you an opening to attack.
3 on any casting class character the mana regen is handy.
90% of barbs should ruby socket because of battle orders. but I don't think skull socketing is a bad idea on a BvS.

Skulled Armors are only usually only wanted on items with natural rep.
Also, many people where I'm from (east NL/L) look for high def mage plates also.
As for ideal armor mods, I'll post some mods of items I use
Ornate Plate (Prepatch)
93%ED (870DEF)
41 LIFE
31 MANA
7 PR
PLR75
-40REQ
Level 39 required
~
Mage Plate (Prepatch)
234 DEF
13 DEX
89 LIFE
14 FR
25 CR
22 LR
~
Ring Mail (Postpatch)
24 FHR
50 LIFE
10 REP (PSK)
19% Mana Regen
16 FR
11 LR
~
Light Plate (Postpatch)
24 FHR
98 LIFE
15 STR
29 CR
29 LR
Just a few examples of "ideal" armors.
If you're new, then anything with high life will be nice, although resistances are even more essential overall.
btw Postpatch stats are
10/17/24 FHR
up to 60 life (30+ can be red color)
up to 40? mana (30+ can be blue color)
PLR 50/75 (75 can be dark red color)
up to 30 Fire Cold Ltn Psn resistance (no color)
orange color comes from "attacker takes damage of " mod
bright yellow comes from "+ light radius" mod (only pure +ltr mod, not combined with attack rating)
dark gold comes from 24FHR
Dark Brownish comes from high enhanced defence
Prepatch gold could be from up to 49 lightning resistance, but the maximum prepatch resistances on armor/helm/belt are 29c/f/p and 49ltn.

Large rep life (50+) + 90 cold resist (after cold mastery) = cold sorcs useless in pvp. Replnish life is very good, only in large quantity tho. It is not considered bm, and ppl with pskulled items and large rep are respected.
U can negate most elemental attacks in pvp with large rep and 90+ resists. This isnt my opinion or anything like that, its what all the top players do. Of course in pvm and general pvp, id rather use p ruby, just in specialized characters, svs, fvf, bvs etc. rep life is largely wanted.
