Why are cold sorcs so popular these days?

Every time I'm on the trade channel, there's some rich people offering tons for perf fathom and cold gcs with life, even perf nightwings sometimes. So what's the big deal with cold sorcs? They've always been great mfers but I doubt that's the reason why people are spending so much on them. Am I missing something here? Are they great duelers all of a sudden or pvm/rushing gods? It seems the popularity of cold sorcs has skyrocketed lately. What gives?

They slow enemies, they cause large damage, they're one of the best bost killers around. What more do you need to know?

Maybe people are starting to wake up and realise killing 20% faster is better than a 3% increase in your chance to find a unique.

pvp drives the market, and generally pvp builds go in cycles. whatever is the "strongest" perceived build is copied over and over, making the "best" eq for that build go up in price. i can remember ww barbs, then jabbazons, then lld, then zealot, etc. coming in waves.

For me it's the mastery and the slow effect. Hell now is so full of resistant monsters that I like the cold mastery because it cuts into their resistance.

1. PFathoms are literally only achievable only from EBay or you just have couple Imps / PGriffs / WBrands lying aroun. If you're on Ladder and think Fathom's are expensive, come to NL... 40 Zod will not get you a PFathom. All popular GC's with lots of Life have always been popular. If you think Cold Life GC's are expensive, wait till you see the PCombats / +40 Life ones... -.-

2. They're strong in general. In both PvM and PvP.

3. Yes you are missing something.

4. They were never a "sudden PvM / PvP gods", except the beginning of 1.10. Either you were playing in a passworded game all alone for the past couple years, or you aren't just good at realizing things... ;) Blizz Sorcs especially have dominated the MF world with Meteorb, but much much much more effective in PvP than a Meteorb. The popularity of Cold Sorcs has never skyrocketed to extremes except the beginning of 1.10.

Cold sorcers are overpowered by BlizzardCo.
So thats why the "Blizzard" shower cannot be a regular skill :D

Why are blizz sorcs so popular?
Because with AA, they can wipe out an entire pub duel game from afar without damaging their precious life. It is nearly impossible to negate, especially since ur be vulnerable to the other chars if u stack only cold resists. Thats the end of it.

Oh yea, they look darn cool =D
