Calling out to all SORC EXPERTS: Is 75% block important at all for PvP?

This is a particularly sad day for me because I might have to rebuild my lightning sorc (37K lightning with Battle Cry). The reason is I think I dumped too much on DEX to keep up with the 75% block (using Stormshield) that I almost never use since I use my SPIRIT shield all the time (with spirit I have ~58% block with 2 x ravens, ~40 block with 2 x SOJs).

Even with such a high lightning damage I couldn't keep up with most other very well equipped sorcs. (I know my dueling skills for sorc kind of suck...but I think I can rebuild this sorc to become even better and survive longer).

With BO My life and mana are: 1,000+ Life, 2,000+ mana. With my regular gear: STR >200, DEX >200, Vit is <50, Energy is >250.

So my question to you SORC experts is this: how important is that 75% blocking most especially against other SORCs? Could I keep my STR, DEX and VIT at base and dump all into Energy (since I use ES) instead of pumping into DEX to get 75% block with a shield I never use? My fear is that if I end up dueling melee characters I'll be toast but will that 75% block help against really powerful melee builds anyway?

i know very little about pvp, but i can tell you this: blocking is absolutely useless against other sorceresses. blocking is for people who swing at you. with a weapon. blocking is entirely a waste if all you duel is caster characters.

I never put block on my PvP sorcs, and don't feel its needed. If you have enough cast, you wont get hit by ranged.

Thought so. This much I figured. Someone should update the Sorc Guides (I should have followed me instincts on this one.) Oh well...time to rebuild. Another high level character mule.

It depends on your environment.
My sorc uses 70% block with whistans + 35% damage reduce and i can tank barbs with e-shield.
But on ladder, I wouldent bother going block is spirit is your main shield.

The main reason I block is because on east NL there are lots of aa barbs, and I don't have a spirit to use yet, so i switch sanctiary/whistans O.o

Just to let you know, my Barb owns 100% of all non block sorcs. One whirl with or without ES and they're dead.

If you duel pubs where there are a lot of telel barbs, chargers, etc. Go with a shield.
