+200-300% Enhanced Damage(varies)
Adds 30-65 Damage
+50% Damage To Undead

Stalagmites have base damage of 75-107 (wow). Anybody upgrade one of these and try them on a druid or something?

No of course!!
Definetly no other person here, except you, have ever upgraded Ribcraker stuff. Man you must be genius - such bright interprenewer!
An to use it on druid!!!
I thought that is impossible!
Thanks dude for the fun!
P.S. I catch the rumor that some people are using special items - the s.c. "tome of town portal " to collect the "scrolls of town portal". Isn't that fantastic news! :D
I haven't been on bnet for over a year now, but I think someone said something about certain weapons not being upgradable (eg. buriza)

I haven't been on bnet for over a year now, but I think someone said something about certain weapons not being upgradable (eg. buriza)Who told you that? Every normal or exceptional unique weapon/armor type in the game can be upgraded to higher base item. However in order to upgrade from exceptional to elite you must be on ladder or the recipe won't work.
Buriza and Ribcracker can both be upgraded to elite item type (on ladder).
Buriza will become Colossus crossbow. Ribcracker will become Stalagmite and upgrade damage to ~450 max. Upped shaeled Ribcracker is great for Shapeshifters (great mods, fast, good dmg and cheap).

Hmm a forumite @ the barb forum commented that upping ribby would result in some bugged durability issues - could anyone confirm this?

Whoa whoa... easy on the sarcasm pal... if you think the post is stupid, don't reply. No need to take your juvenile macho trip on somebody else's expense.
I just wanted to know experiences of people who've actually used these items. Obviously not you, since you're currently still experimenting with tomes of town portal.
Grow up will you? Immature people like you make the game an unpleasant experience once in a while.

Using a stalagmite on a barb is not a good idea because there's no weapons mastery for staffs. Druids are much better with this item. Plus the defence boost is nice :)

Actually Staffs are considered as Mace so it works.

RetroStar is right about staff being consider mace.
Even better, ribcracker socketed with a shael do hit the last speed breakpoint for ww on barb. I always wanted to get a perfect upgraded myself but I dont play ladder enough.

It's something I remember reading on the theory page before patch 1.1 was released, heh.

Actually the mastery works for all blunt weapons, even wands get a bonus.
amazon: That was just a joke, because the Buriza was so powerful in 1.09.

An upgraded Ribcracker actually won't hit the last WW bp, because a stalagmite is slower than a quarterstaff.

Hmm quaterstaff is base 0 while stalagmite is 10. With ribby's 50ias and a shael in ribby stalagmite will hit lwwp for 2-hander (-60) :D

Staffs are considered maces? Man I didn't know that... I think it might be time to try out a staff barb setup... maybe using Naj's set or something.

Yep, that was posted here a long time ago that Buriza was not upgradeable.
Part of the Pre-patch buzz.
I find a lot of people are not big fans of upping item but what the hell, quit being so formulatic! If an lower item has unusual mods tat fit you play style then cube away!
LONG LIVE THE UPPED PLUCKEYE!

Just to post some more numbers for anyone who hasn't made one, my 296% cracker upped to 327-488 dam. With a shael, the cb and other mods it makes a nice, reasonably inexpensive weapon for a ww druid, espeically with a might merc and HoW in tow.

I was thinking of an eth zodded one - it's the only one I'd use if I could, considering the cheapness of Oath now.
hmmm you could always try an ethereal Archon staff and BOTD it... the str req would only be 27 (its also would be really expensive to BOTD a staff :)). Too bad it wouldn't reach the last breakpoint for WW, as it only has -50 weapon speed. But the damage would be pretty good for such a low str requirement, athough, what armor you going to wear with only 27 str? Maybe Naj's with a hel...

O.o
Seriously? Wow... *starts imagining a wand frenzybarb*

BOTD gives you 30 to str... an eni BP as well would solve all your str problems... i think we may be on to something here........
- Toxis
You battle.net guys could also use annihilus charm, and with a good amulet (not using highlords...) could have 30 strength and still 2 more suffixes and 3 prefixes...
hmmm but what build would actually benefit from an eth botd archon and not too many points in strength?
I suppose you could do a PvP vita-charger/FOH pally with an anni, enigma mage plate (might not be able to get enough str without using different charms etc. for archon) Your life would be huge, and charge damage would be quite high. especially if you have call to arms on switch.
I just got back into d2, so my wealth isn't enough to test this build out (lol, my level 18 necro with junk stuff :)). Maybe someone else can try it out.

which one is better?
- up 299 ed non-eth ribcracker with a shael
- up 274 ed eth ribcracker with a zod
For a fury druid with max fury, max lycan, max oak, and maybe max werewolf......

I once had a eth ribcracker before ladder. Can't recall the %ED assuming 300, the uped zoded damage would be:
91 Avg x 1.5 x 4 = 546.
I traded it to a guy in the forum for real cheap, provided that he tell me how is the uped, zoded cracker crack. He didn't respond ever since.
Think I've heard about Fury Druid's with an ethBOTD Archon.
As to Zigot - iirc (just woke up, and only had two coffee, so bear with me), you'll lose one frame on the fury w/ the Zodded, upped 'Cracker. It's up to you whether you think the extra damage is worth the slightly slower fury rate.

yeah, two things that keep me from upgrading the eth before the non-eth:
- only 274 ed
- break point in fury
but i think it still have a good trading value on non-ladder.
Z
yeah, people were telling me to get an upped zoded ribcracker... but i like my normal up[ped shaeled ribcracker... GREAT weapon for my druid.
i'm currently trying to get an eth 0/6 socket great poleaxe and put a breath of the dying runeword in it. i'll hit 4 frame fury and have some good damage/stuff with it... and it'll be range 5, and not range 2 like a ribcracker, :p

Play with style : Fury Druid + Ribcracker >> i love the hitting sound of a Rib.
Otherwise, Eth BOTD great poleaxe is perfect.
Z
Let's not forget about upped buriza using shapeshifters ;)
Or upped ribcracker wolf barbs :o
