I picked up a vortex shield with defense 219 ,resist all 34, triple socketed.

sanctuary runeword = ko + ko + mal


i have 2x ko rune but no mal rune.

i have 2x pul rune and 1x um instead.

should i do it or what?

i think i should just wait for a mal rather than waste an um and two puls!
or wait for another vortex shield with perfect resists and plus to skills?

what would you do?

Vortex shields are very rare, so if I were you and I needed that shield, I would upgrade these 2 Pul + Um to Mal and make that runeword. You will most probably have a new set of these runes before you get a better vortex shield.

White paladin shields cannot have bonuses to skills.

vortex shields aren't that rare now thanks to lvl 85 areas.

um's i wouldn't cube because i need them for crescent moon swords and i have a couple of nice etherals i'm saving for merc runeword items, and almost all of the cheap armor rw's use um (pul too.)

pul's i would use for upgrading.

Again: There are no white/grey paladin shields with skills....

And being a class specific item, these shields have 1/3 drop rate in their respective TCs (Armor 87 for vortex shields). They also have a better chance of being higher quality (magic, rare, (failed) unique, etc) so white and grey ones are VERY rare. I typically find one or two nonmagical ones a week, and Griswolds shield is the only set item that I've never ever found, besides the cow set (as I play SP I don't use the cow level as much as some players do).

I'd definately make "Sanctuary" out of it, just to have a kickass shield. However, I'd hold my horses and wait for the Mal to drop. Mals are much more common than very good vortexes. (such as yours).

I'm still holding out for a eth superior one to Larzuk for "Exile", because Ohms and Vexes are a tad more rare than Mals (Which the countess and the hell hellforge drop from time to time).

I wonder how many Vortex have you found so far....2 this ladder season only...IMO Vortex shields are still rare, very rare!

i lost a 58 ed eth vortex shield muling, i wanted to cry

Sanctuary doesn't have auto-repair or indestructible, so an eth shield is useless for it.
