Shields & sorc's

hi there guys, im sure this has probably been asked many times before, but here goes. i was wondering what shields are the best for a max-block sorc, i has a look at the arreats summit block listings and they seem to be wrong!

does anyone know what block an upgraded vinc gets?? and what block rate a sorc has for a normal Heater shield??

any input on what shields are good for a max-block sorc would be greatly appreciated!!

An upped Visceratuant gives to 82% CTB, I think. A normal Heater gives you 42% CTB. The actual blocking depends on the Dex of your Sorc.

I personally use an Upped Moser's. Two sockets and +25 rez all. :thumbsup:

I'd go with upped Visc or a Rhyme heater. Normal heater block on a sorc is 42% I believe. Upped Visceratuant is 72%.

Shouldn't it be 82%? The difference in CTB between a Heater and a Defender is 22%... so shouldn't it be 60% + 22% = 82%?

Edit: Never mind. Got bored and upped my Moser's - it only increased CTB by 8%, not 15%. Now I'm confused too... how does upping a shield affect CTB?

Also, don't go with Whitstan's Guard, it's only good for Blocking... there's nothing else that makes it attractive. I rather pump Dex a bit higher and get CBF, Rez, etc. etc. from other shields (which pumping stats won't ever contribute to).

now im just confused....

and the reason i think the summit stats are wrong, is the fact that it says a defender shield has 20% block on a sorc, but why then does visc say 60% when it only gets an extra 30% from stats????

anyway, so can i get a vote on what shield i should use??

upped mosers?
upped visc? (kind of leaning towards this one)
winstens gaurd??
stormshield?

hmm, yeah that's odd. maybe arreats is just wrong. that would make more sense, as atm the ctb on normal and exc are the same.

imho, the only decent blocking shield is stormshield. the req's are hefty, but imho it's well worth it.

i always put a pdiamond in it, but i think i'm going to start using elds.

I'm reasonably sure Defenders have 30% block on a sorc, and Heaters have 42%.

I've been wondering the same thing lately, for I have just started a new Forb/Charged Boltress. In order to have max damage with CB, I'll need to be as close to enemies as I can, which makes me think I'll either need to pump Vit with every spare point I've got or I'll have to invest in Str to wear Stormshield. It's a case of +to skill vs. PDR and max block... and sadly I'm leaning toward Stormshield. Vote away, por favor, before I waste this fun-to-play-so-far character.

I believe using a -15%req/mod'd jewel saves more stats than Eld if you go with minimal strength.

I'll just put my personal favorite out there...not one much used, because of the hefty 133 str req, but the Gerke's Sancturary has decent 74% block, 15 replenish life, up to 30 resist all, and 10-20 dr and mdr...those latter two make it pretty good for an energy shield sorc (which, sadly, makes the 20-30% res pointless).

I'd also like to mention that, if you don't need the extra fcr you can get from a caster amulet, a saftey craft ammy is great for blocking...up to +10% to block. Thul + perf. emerald + ammy. Can save you a lot of points on dex that you can put in elsewhere.

CoH with Shako and/or Verdungo's gives you a resonably amount of DR.
