I finally fouind a soj!!

I was doing hell andy in pubby games and on my 5th or 6th game with 5 people in it andy dropped 2 unique rings. I figured, great another manald and nagel, but the first one i identified was a soj! I told myself i would find one, i just didnt know when. I don't even wanna trade it now because i feel like it has more value, because it's legit for one and it was found by me =)

ya a sojs are worth quite a bit. they are the most expencive unique by far and are worth like a dual res life fhr helm or armor. I bought a 234 ancitent axe for soj. have gotton a soj for a 10/30/20 priz w/ dual stacked res (fire and lightning). so ya they are worth quite a bit.

My 3 hi lvl chars have after 3 whole months come up with the following best items during this 3rd ladder season:

6% mana leech manald
23% mf nagel
goldskin(1)
shard(3)
deaths palms
a few rare rings with 2 decent resists and a few other crummy stats
a +1 zon ammy with 5 other nice stats currently being used by the #1 zon on ladder; she traded to me a nice +2 barb one.
a few helms with high dual resists, and maybe half of another stat
a few belts with 3-3 1/2 good stats
quite a number of nice boots 4-4 1/2 or more stats
a +2 palla 193 exec, a 212 martel without any extra bonuses on them
a +2 necro wand with some fcr, nice mana and pois res
+1pal shields 20 30 20 priz(2)
a few palla weapons up to 88 damage, no ias, no good nagas
+2 sorc/ +3 enchant magical staff (for buffing)
biggins bonnet(1)

No gulls, no silks, no death sash, no Eye, no chancies, no tarn, no really good barb weapons and NO soj. A very very underwhelming record since in past ladders i have gotten multiple silks, multiple dual leech/res 5 stat rings, 232 exec, 252 martel, lottsa good +2 necro wands, godly belts, 40% chancies, all early in the season for quick use.

In fact, NO soj for about 3 years now. I got 4 of them in my first 16 months on bnet, all from cs runs, usually from diablo. I pick up uniq rings for some stretches about every day or once every few days or so. Probably in excess of 200 uniq rings in the past 3 years. I know the probability is about 1 in 33 being soj. So I was being majorly SCREWED. :(

Then came yesterday. A friend of mine was in a trading game with silks and wanted gull only. I charged out of that gamel, pissed, a barb on a mission, with my new goldfind setup, complete with tarn/chancies that had been traded with the shards. And I did council runs with my Warcry barb, in 2-4 person games. I dont use goldwrap, my goldfind belt with resists is more useful with 4 rows of pots for the mana-gulping warcry. With nearly 600% goldfind (no Patriarchs, I have to use shards to get a good fcr) and less than 100% mf, and no itemfind skill (yet) here are my results:

10-20 million gold, used for gambling ammys by my lvl 90 warcry barb produced a single +2 magical barb ammy and a slew of +1 ammys with very weak mods. :grrr: It was very very frustrating. Why did I continue? Here's why:

Surprisingly lots of rares came down, and without any interference by fellow broadband supergrabbers, some of which werent that bad and were muled. And, in a stretch of just 3-4 hours, the following uniq rings fell from the Council:

2 soj's (one from de Seis actually during a 'break')
7% manald
27% nagel .......................

That is why is pays to keep going with gambling and MFing ewven though you think nothing is ever going to drop. Then when you least expect it...

I think there is something in a Gull that likes 0 MF. After 3 months playing online I found my fisrt Gull from Normal Andy with a 0 MF Sorc. Then last week I found the second. With the same char, in Tristram while looking for Leg to open cows...some skeleton dropped it...
I'm yet to find Sojs or Shard, Or GSkin. What is worth a Gull to trade for?

about 2 months ago i was running andy mindlessly while watching tv kinda, nothing ever dropping other than a mass of shards(probably found 8-9 of them - stopped picking them up at one point). Anyway my whole thing is, if andy drops a unique ring, i stay in that game and go do meph too. So I get a nagel from andy and a soj from meph. I'm happy. Normally I'd stop right there for the day and go do something else but I just kept on mindlessly drilling andy. About a half hour later andy drops an soj, so after weeks of andy runs I get 2 sojs within an hour. Its crazy how that happens. Congrats on your sojs they make things so much easier :-D

With gull being so important for mf, esp for barbs and sorc, i think just a few gulls can win u an soj in the current ladder. Shards are very very desirable early in the ladder. In fact, it is THE most in-demand item (of course, if u find an soj early on, do NOT trade it for a shard, because shard is easy to find and its value goes way down fast). If u find a shard now, trade it within a few weeks, cuz its value is falling fast.

I have only ever found 1-2 gulls. Thats cuz i play almost exclusively late hell. I think diablo in hell once dropped one. The only other one i found was in cat2 normal walking back over an area that our group had killed to get to cat3 and we hit a dead end and came back, I was first there and was using alt key, so.....my first gull. The game list now is chock full of trade games wanting these 3 uniques.

Last round i did lots of Normal level Cow king games with enchant sorc and baba with 500+ mf, found about 5-6 gulls really quickly. But this round seems to be only other low level uniques especially hotspurs found 3 of them.

As for goldskin/silks/gull if you find the right person these will trade like for like although i think silks is the least valuable always see ppl trying to trade silks for gull or goldskin and not the other way around.

Personally, I just use the Andy Bug with 0 MF. I've picked up a ton of awesome armors with insane mods and handful of great uniques, too (like Silks, GSkin, and Gull).

Yes, inquiring minds want to know, Akukumi, how does the andy zero mf bug work??

Is it really a quest kill? Or do u have to have exactly zero mf? I rarely have more than 100% mf on any runs. I find out that to do so means I have to nearly kill the boss with regular gear and then tp, go to town, put on mf gear, go back down and struggle with the kill while trying to stay alive.

My results with this for Baal runs have been very very underwhelming. I came to the belief that more than 1 person has to be in the game for a good mf drop to occur. I know for a fact that specially designated chests rely on the # of peeps in the game for the size of their drop. Goldfind either from regular chests or from monster gold drops doesnt seem to depend on anyone being in the game.

I run hell andy with 250 mf and the drops are fine... no andy bug.

Andy bug aint worth it imo

I have max resists, good fhr, and block


Take a look at my frozen orb mf sorc guide, its also the same 4 blizz, just dont put pnts to teleport and put to blizz n syenergies

I've been doing hell meph runs with my sorc for the past few weeks. Killed him about 50 times with 150 mf, got a few good rares and silks. All I've wanted to find is my first stone, finally I give up and start making my speeder lance barb.

While questing In Tal's tomb pop goes a unique ring I ID it, wham SOJ. The girlfriend gave me a high five (what a cutie) ... I did have angelic rings ammy and armor on, so 100 mf ...

Then the next day I get a 226 exec off D. Beauty!!!!! :D
