Skeletons and Iron Maiden

If a mob with IM on it hits a skeleton for 50, but the skeleton only has 20 life, will the IM return its percentage based on the 50 damage the attack should have done, or on the 20 damage it actually did?

It's returning damage based on actual damage dealt.

That's why I don't care about IM in normal difficulty.

So...this would also explain why I leech about 1 mana in normal with my level 80 zealer.
