Good Smiter??

Hey I'Ve been dueling for awhile and I wanna make a character than really pisses people off so I figured why not a smiter.Im Not that Rich and I cant afford the godliest of gear.

Skills:

20-Charge
20-Smite
20-Fanat
20-HolyShield

Gear:

Grief
HoZ
Gaze or Shako?
Verdungos
Rings? I unno what you think?
Maras or Highlords?
Dracs
Eth Treks
Fort

Ring: BKs
Armor: CoH
Helm: Shako until U can get a good CoA
Boots: Gores
Gloves: IAS is best


As for your skills, I recommend that you put some into resis auras. This is really useful for sorcs and auradins. I have a total of 14 points for my auras. 2 hard points into salvation, just for those duels when there are a few different sorcs in a game. WW pikers, Boners, and Zons give me the most trouble.

Expect to hear BM and whining from ppl when you smite them into the grnd :lol:

It's fun to piss stupid people off...
however, start messing up games and be ready for someone to bring in a dual wielding ww barb and then.... Be ready to be nk or "Save and Exit".. :\

Also you'd do good to keep some sorbing gear in stash Vs. sorcs.... Such as Tgods, snowclash, ravens, wisps, dwarfstars, hotspurs...blablabla...

Just to experiment, try using a SS, vs other smiters, I expect with the massive damage of grief, the 35% PDR will give you and edge.
And a highlords isn't necessary unless you need the ias to hit 6fpa

Weapon: Grief
Armor: Coh
Helm: Ber Ber CoA
Shield: Exile
Ammy: 28 Maras
Boots: 198 Upped Gores
Ring 1: 240/20 Raven
Belt: 38/15 Dungos
Ring 2: Rare ring (str dex, resis, leech)
Gloves: Bloodfist.

With that gear, I should get max FPA even with just grief.

as for those 1 point wonders.. im thinking salvation vs sorcs.

If you're a Smiter, HoZ reigns SUPREME over all other shields...

If you're a melee paly but not smiter, Exile will do better.

I much prefer ss on my zealot over exile or anything else (except maybe alma). gives massive dr and the strength I need to equip my coa. leaves me free for fort+tgods+other goodies for 30k defense and massive resists, life, and dr. gotta love grief!

you asked for 1 point wonders, charge is one of those. you're a smiter, not a chargadin. you use charge only to get close your enemys, but still you can do some high damage even with 1 point in it. also holy freeze is a 1 pt wonder, which i use a lot.
I have a foh pala, which uses a base lvl smite and fana as alternative attack. with only 1.9k dmg I can kill most smiters with my smite by just flashing holy freeze so i get the first hit. it works really well, trust me.

Wrath, a pure smiter will max Fanat, smite, holy shield, and defiance, with the rest of the points going into charge.

CoH vs. Fort
dracs vs. steelrends vs. bloodfist
highlords vs. maras

smite has ignore target def so AR is only important for charge backup right?
and deadly strike doesn't work but OW and CB will right?

im having trouble testing this myself because of grief's bugs

CoH vs. Fort ---> I would think that most use fort, and would only bring out a CoH when they need [to stack] res
dracs vs. steelrends vs. bloodfist ---> steelrends has a extremely high str req, so its a tossup between dracs and bloodfists. Personally I would choose bloodfists as the 3 useful mods of dracs are:
OW--> Most duels are over very quicky with grief + if you hit them and cause OW, you'd probably be able to hit them again and kill them in several more hits [so not too useful]
Str ----> possibly useful to save pts that could go into vit
ctc tap ---> again with the high dmg of grief, most duels are over before taps can cast [not too useful]
Bloodfists
10 IAS ---> useful for hitting the 6fpa bp if your using grief in a zerker
40 life ---> beats the vit saved by the dracs's str
30 fhr ---> useful for hitting the next bp vs trappers, etc
Overall, I would choose bloodfists [Upgrade them if your can for better def]
highlords vs. maras
Again, I would only use highlords if you need the 20%ias to hit the 6fpa smite bp if your using a grief zerker

It is best to atleast get 5 x Palladin Combat Gcs before any of the other gear the damage is very important.

I find a SMite/FOH pally to be very godly. Forces people to wear lightining gear and then you can own them with Smite and Charge...

Try for 3k+ health with BO
15k+ Defence
45-50% Damage Reduce (VERY IMPORTANT FOR MELEE DUELS)


If I was on Ladder i would subsitiutte All my Weapons except Silence for Grief and keep all other gear the same.

some people also go foh/smite. focusing more on foh than smite. since ou ahve grief i hear you can hit 7k foh and 7k smite. pretty damn scary either way.

I think the base IAS of grief will easily take care of the fastest breakpoint with good lvl of fanat. So what are your thoughts without the use of IAS on the equipment?
