if you are going to make a botd a crusader would be the best way to go...req are less than a hydra.....a wf may be a better choice for a pit strafer and alot cheaper

Faith is decent too in a GM
faith is alot better then a botd (price difference = 3-4 ists difference to make)
the cheapest option = wf and use in comb with faith merc (wich is MUCH cheaper as it made on a other bow then ama-specefic)
try this (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=175957)
And this (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=293297)
the first is a strategy about strafers, the second is about comb like WF on you and faith on merc etc. etc. ...
hope it helps

Act1 Mercs have the intelligence of a tree stump. Even with an enemy in plain sight they will charge into melee range for no logical reason and promptly get skewered by the archers in the pit.
well i aint say this is the best option but it is a open option, and to be honost i never use act 1 merc always stick with act 2 might or cold merc~~

Yes it is an option but the damage loss from using a crappy act1 merc (even if it has faith) is not worth it compared to the sheer power of an act2 might merc.

I have Pride polearm on my Might merc who wears Fortitude & Vamp, with my strafer using Windforce and wearing, Dream Tiara, LOH (+300% demon dmg) and Fortitude armor for another 300%.
Gives me about 5,500 max damage...one round of strafing and I go over and pick up the items...
Only problem is it took me about 6 months of hardcore trading to get to this point...
