Why do you guys think that Blizzard North made no attempt what so ever to recreate Tristram as it was in Diablo 1. How hard can it be to put some stupid ruins in the right places and add a stream and some rocks?

They could also make a couple of sub-dungeons there. Not as big as they were in Diablo 1. But one level of Church (with bones of the Butcher  ) and, say one level of Catacombs could have been made.

And they could place a dead King Leoric there, so you could rip his arm off :D

Yeah, continuity would have been cool, but oh well.
Maybe they finally came to their senses and moved the town over a couple miles. "Located on a former entrance to Hell" just doesn't look good in the real estate ads.
I am pretty sure that they did use some of the Tristram theme in the D2 music, so at least we can give them credit for that.

I guess we could all use an extra Magic Find area, right below Tristram. :D

But you would only find D1 items below Tristam, of course...
Well, Tristram looked vaguely like it did in the original...the ruins of the Church were there, at least.
My guess is mainly that the original Tristram was just too big for the purposes of d2. I swear it took forever to walk to that witch chick. They wanted something nice and small to make rescuing Cain easy.
