Does your mf% kick in when a trap kills a mob?

Oh, might as well take the chance to ask - do light facets work when the attack comes from a trap?

Yes on the MF. No on the facets for the sentry-type traps.

That's pretty odd, isn't it? That one kind of bonus transfers to the traps, and one doesn't?
I'm gonna have to remember that we're playing in an artificial world, and not a real one, where the laws of physics rule.

Seems the logic is simple:

Player MF is a bonus to everyone. The summons and mercs add their own MF to their own kill.

Facets only work for the one that makes the kill, and that is not the player but the trap.

A lot of things don't transfer to minions; that's the logical thing.

Tranferring MF/GF, on the other hand, is simply a balance issue: blizzard felt that *any* kill attributed to the player should get the MF/GF. This is even more important for classes such as Trapsins or Skelemancers who use minions to make most or all of their kills...

Yeah, I'm just so amazed they thought about that. Guess I have to stop beta-testing games, since I always take for granted that there's something wrong :p
