View Full Version : Ending the Faith Bow War
Gah! I've been reading threads upon threads of poor confused souls not knowing which bow to use. This thread is NOT another one of those. I'm going to try and outline gear for each bow (with your help, of course) and then add up the bonuses & damage assuming average equipment (I.E. 27 Fort, 4LL BK).
First we begin by throwing all of the items in two seperate pools, then, we'll decide which to use, and where. I'm also going to try and stay away from items with too many random mods (rares).
***THE POOL***

Before I advance, does anyone want to throw anything in here? Or should we start to categorize which is best based on each bow scenario?

Ed/Ias Armour and Helm.
Edit, and different socketing for helms.
Arb
Andariel 15ias/30fire (buttugly though :teeth: )
Razortail (but with the faith maybe you need the ias, never been able to afford one, so i dunno :p )
I think it was just assumed that 40 ed would go on those 15 ias jewels :)
Yeah, an Andariel Visage would be a good point to add in, but I don't know how many people will like the -fire LOL.
Sigon's combo (eg. belt + boots for 30 ias) is quite relevant imo.

Possible do different socketing combos? Such as 40/15? Ed/Res, or other, (like a rune or something)
Could add variety?
And is only 3 setups per item.
I agree with Fumbler though, Sigons is a must have.

Regarding Sigon, I too agree completely! I love having my Hel'd Arctic bow firing as fast as possible at low levels, and Sigon is a MAJOR contendor. I was just thinking about end-game scenarios.
Regarding the variety, I'm just trying to keep it as simple as possible for now and get an average damage & resist stats with good gear setups. This in no way is to restrict you from getting creative:)

Is there any other way to get 30% IAS on gloves?
Is there any other way to get 30% IAS on gloves?
Nope, not that I know of.. Unless you get some bugged gloves. Heck, I remember seeing an soj with 7 to skills, so i guess ANYTHING's possible... but consider it impossible unless you know somebody on the inside :P

Deaths Gloves and Sash. Gives 30% Ias CBF and some res.

True.
Arbedark, good tip! I totally forgot about that bonus, don't even have it on my p&p notes LOL.
I'd like to have a few folks agree on a standard GMB setup. This is a low-end setup, and better gear IS possible, but the key ingredients are here (ias and ed)
Faith GMB
Fortitude
40/15'd Mav helm (30+15)
Highlords's Ammy (20)
IAS Gloves with KB (20)
Nos belt (10)
2* Ravenfrost rings
Gore Riders
I know it's not the only possible, but it's a standard setup... agreed? With the other posts, can someone post a few other possiblities to hit the 95 ias? When we've got 5 or 6, i'll peek at the optimal gear for all of them and crunch some nubmers for them all to figure out the hardest hitting.

Kira's is a very nice ally also, paired along with tri res, 30 FR/W boots. People seem to ignore how pathetically easy it is to get max+stacked resists with a bowazon (rumours imo are very false for Xpac). You shouldn't ignore this potential in any final setup. I mean, 15 Resists, 15 IAS 70% Kiras is plainly VERY sexy.
Stacking resists:
-70% start in hell with Anya.
85 from Kiras
+15
15% from Faith
+30
Approx 30% F/C/L resists from boots
+60
+20-30 from Fortitude
OR
160 ED, 70-100 life, 30 resists, 30 IAS armour (Hits 7 frame with 30% from Belt/Gloves, 20 from Ammy, 15% from helmet.)
+80-90
At least +20 Anhillious or other small charms (I would suggest)
+100-110.
And there you have it, stacked resists to counter any -resists people have. As for cold, stack Thawing Pots, Raven Frost, and Sigs boots. Hotspurs for fire. Highlords for lightning (+tgods and other for FoH). And Deaths Hand/Sash if ever desperate against anything poison.
And, if you really need it, 20% Ber'd Vamp Gaze and 15% Verdungo's (43% DR) for any barbs you might cross. (SS on switch)
I think this all hits 8 frame (without the ridiculously priced armour). 7 frame isn't much needed unless against Fury druids. Of course, this is all imo.
--Well, I rambled a little but I think things like this should never be ignored. It isn't hard at all to maximize any Zons resists, only in fable it is. Perhaps some consideration towards a final gear choosing?
I know these items aren't all from the list, but I think they should be added.

i doubt most people would agree that a 40/15 helm is a "low end" setup on ladder.
I still like my Lionheart armor and it is certainly lower-end than any Fortitude or CoH armor. Now that I think about it I can say the same for my upped WWS and Riphook and double upped Wizendraw. Hmmm and Tals Mask, upped Twitchthroe and the all-expensive Harmony bow.
I've made and used Faith/Fortitude but found lesser equipment to always be more fun to play. Example: I'm close to beating Hell diff using almost all rare equipment and a Harmony runeword bow. Since I use the Freeze Act 2 Merc, my massive damage I believe is in the 200-700 or so range using Magic Arrow and Multi.
But I guess none of this is 'ultimate' but nor is it 'boring'.
BTW: unless I missed it somewhere your proposed 'low-end' equipment seems to be lacking any Mana Leech. I always found that useful unless you're using Magic Arrow for your attack. I suppose you could add ML to those 20% IAS/KB gloves. You'll need plenty of P Sapphires and Orts though.
Finally, skill selection and play style will both have direct impact on what is deemed the BEST equipment.

I tend to agree with you on this one, but there's an optimal general rule that should be followed, and this is what i'm trying to identify to come up with a proper analysis...
I'm breaking a rule, posting after myself, but that's too bad...
I've taken consideration that a 40/15'd helm is not an inexpensive way to attain the 95 ias required for the GMB. A simple 15ias jewel isn't very expensive and should be okay. This affects our calculations because we do not have the extra 40ed to our final damage. Our only ED sources for the GMB setup come from:
Bow - 330
Armour - 300
This is a total of 630 ED, as opposed to 670.
The bow itself has an average damage of 43, totaling 314.
Fana will boost this by 262.5% (avg of all possible fana mods)
This totals out just above 1.1k.
Can someone please look over my math? I'm not sure I've done it right.

It's not breaking a rule when you post something later and you actually have something to say or a new question. But the cavalier attitude towards breaking rules is dangerous...

you should include a control, buriza or wf?
you should include a control, buriza or wf?
No, the comparrison is between Faith on the two seperate bows...
I'm still waiting on someone to back up my math.
