This happened to me before 3 weeks.
I was in to a trade game (hell) when came one barblvl 78 and summoner 9x lvl. They started their mf party, but the barb just began talking s**t and stupid things. He expressed hostility on the guy with which i was traidng, and the chiken hack emideatly dropped him! I was totally pissed !!
And i expressed hostily towars the stupid barb. He left his party and said he is raidy to fight - i thought "what a jerk - 12 lvl under me and so show off".
I am elite wolfbarb and i was ready to give him a good advise..
I went to cold plains and start boosting my speed with the feral rage (i am incredibly fast thanks to mine act1 vigor merc).
AND THEN HE CAME OUT!!!
The same barb WAS ABSOLTELY DIFFERENT - I HAVE NEVER SEEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS.
He was looking as BIG RED BALOON FLOATING WITH ALL POSSIBLE AURAS!!!
But this was not enough - he was TELEPORTING with incredible SPEED,
AND THE WORST THING -
HE WAS CASTING AMPLIFY DAMAGE on such great lvl that the whole play screen was into a curse animation!!!!! (nearly 40 lvl amplify approximetly!!)
he was confused of my speed but he hit me once - and i loose immediately 3000 life (i have 8500). That was enough for me...
And i left.

1) Barbs have the same fcr bps as sorks, and they can dual wield Wizzy, so unless he hit 7fpc (which would be easy, but would involve more than just 1 ring+switch) it's not incredible speed
2) You hostiled, then the barb left the party with the necro, as such the necro would still be hostile to you...like others have said AA =/

Sorry about the spelling in my first post, but i was almost feld a sleep and i had a terrible headache..
But:
1. The barb was real.
2. The necro was NOT THERE.
3. THE BARB WAS CASTING THE AMPLIFY!!! I AM SURE ABOUT THAT!!!
4. All my friends doubt that exist such hack, but only on OPEN BATTLENET.

i highyl doubt that, seeing as to how a lvl 12ish already fills the entire screen, you cant really tell if it's that high of a lvl

Sorry, this just made me laugh.

Hmmm... amp could be a few things, including, most likely, the necro; less likely (for full screen coverage), gavel of pain (or whatever the curse maul is).

taking 3k life with amp on isn't really that much.

Barbs can easily tele at great speed, though if he cursed you that would confuse me a bit, since gavel of pain on switch would kinda negate dual wizzy's on switch (unless he was a singer, which wouldn't explain 3k damage).

Lastly, the style of your post leaves one to wonder if you didn't dream this whole encounter or maybe encounter such a barb on a bad acid trip.

Another thing of note, wolf barbs are really no match for a geared up high lvl dueler, my recent experience in softcore dueling has taught me much about the high lvl business (in hc I have so far stuck to low-mid lvl dueling). BTW, my experience has also taught me that hammerdins, while scary in hc because of the damage, are poo and easily beaten by casters, and zeal/chargers / smite/chargers are some scary ******'s. :)

No argue with your game experience, but i will disagree - hardcore is absolutely different from sc - Hardcore is the real game!

Anywho, sorry it's hard to believe you about this 'hacker' but true hackers, like ones on open with all auras and can turn invisible and wtfpwn you in one hit, have never been seen on closed. And I'm pretty sure there would be more talk about it if this guy was actually the hacker that you say he is.

I believe he said something like, "He hit me once and I immediately lost 3000 life." I assume he meant melee when he said 'hit' and I don't think a nec could take 3k life in 1 smack of a hoto or similar weapon. Of course, this is based on everything in his story being true and nothing exaggerated.

It may be possible that his minions hit him but I don't think that they would take put out that much damage either.

I bet it was the nec, the fact that he got amped with that high lvl of curse screams nec to me. Gavel's radius isn't great, and can't be helped by +skills. Teleporting summon necros can dish out a LOT of dmg, 3k amped doesnt even begin to cut it. Minions bo'd, with fanat/might/conc could very easily look like a big red blob. If this story has any legitimacy at all, it's the necro.

well I would assume that this "floating red ball" would very likely be something that gave the barb HoW charges, which would also give the barb an "aura" to confuse this person further more.

However, judging by the lack of attentiveness (sp) he puts into his posts (something he can reread and spellcheck) I fail to give him much credibility in his recall of what was probably 5 seconds of dueling. So trying to discuss whether such a "hack" exists is kind of irrelevant. We all know that any barb with auras is wearing runewords, and we all know that this guy who's first language doesnt appear to be english (I sure hope not) is not willing to listen to the people who know the game the best, so its not worth continuing this thread, unless its to have a few laughs at the expense of the original poster. Even in his first sentence appologizing for his spelling and chalking it up to fatigue was brutal :)

Anywhoo, on a diff note, whats an acceptable dammage for a chain light sorc. We're not tlaking top of the line, just "acceptable" she's lvl 73 ATM.

As well, lvl 69 PVP necro, what should ideal life be? should I be satisfied with 1500 life, 1000 absorb bone armor and 20% DR?

@AzaZaz, what's the sork being used for? I've got ~2500 chain going on the one I built for NM cows and it works fine there. It can kill decently in hell with that much as well, though I'd say anything under 4k is low for anything resembling a serious PvM character. I'd call 5k acceptable.

I bet if your post count was higher you'd have known what townkill was just due to amount of time spent on forums accumulating knowledge...similarily I bet that someone who didn't previously know of an exploit like townkill isn't likely to be able to judge that a character was using some sort of uber hack.

(namely, barb with a lot of runewords and a red armor, using enigma with good FCR to teleport around quickly, a necromancer with high level amp in there casting it, or some combo involving those two)

Basically, I think everyones saying that there was not a big red blob teleporting around which did not look like a barbarian or a necromancer. If you dont think so, I'm going to have to politely disagree. The fact is, if such a hack existed, more than just you would know about it.

My guess about the sarcasm, is that it seems as though you're coming off as though you KNOW what happened, and if we tell you otherwise, we're wrong. At the same time, you seem to have some misconceptions about the game. (wolfbarbs are NOT good duelers, I'm sorry. A red armored barb with many auras from runewords and whatnot, is most likely built as a dueler, against your PvM wolfbarb, its no contest. While they can take some abuse, the fact remains, wolfbarbs are NOT very good duelers. period.)

I have heard about the town hack, but have never seen it in action. Besides i have heard about different "townhacks" - the most brutal was about a assasin using a bug in Act2. This assasin, as i heard, with the needed hack is placing traps near the vendors(!!!) - and Voala! - all are characters are dead.
I was curious to know HOW 99lvl HARDCORE CHARACTER WAS CHEATED WITH SUCH HACK AND EVEN KILLED??

Nonetheless, he is determined to barter the unique Knout and Scutum that he's managed to acquire over the past two weeks of play. While he's haggling with a Necromancer (surely this Knout is worth at least Um - it's UNIDENTIFIED!), a Barbarian (who does not, at this time, in any way resemble a Balloon) hostiles them both, and the Necromancer immediately flees.

Our Hero grows enraged (something he does regularly from the look of things). He is not one to take insults lightly, so rather than attempt to find the Necromancer he was about to trade with, he runs, frothing at the mouth a little (the player, not the character), to the edge of town while an unknown number of bystanders gather nearby, most of them Paladins with active auras.

Our Hero steps outside, knowing there is absolutely no way this pathetic little Barbarian can defeat him. Our Hero, however, is in for a surprise. The Barbarian (now in Big Red Balloon form) races out of the town, teleporting after our Hero. Our Hero, no stranger to battle, is not phased by the sight of a Big Red Balloon, even one with such a spectacular array of auras. The Balloon Teleports after him and quickly closes the distance.

The Balloon curses our Hero, and Teleports in close to deliver a mighty blow, nigh cleaving our Hero in two. With a choked cough of blood, our Hero flees, swearing vengeance on all Balloons.

Straight PvM char, however going for more of a tank-sorc style sorc with plenty of def/block/res/absorb/DR. So more of a defensive sorc then an offensive one with hell killing capabilities. I think her listed dmg is approx 3k ATM. Just gave her a spin in hell cows at 73 and wasnt pleased with the outcome. Do you think lvl 5 orb with 1 mastery (base) would be enough to survive the LI's in hell and i can put the rest into synergies to try and aim for 4kish dmg around lvl 85. Thats what i'm leaning towards right now.


@ Aerath. I wasnt just flaming the poor sap for his spelling, i'm not that shallow and I'm not ignorant enough to believe that I myself never make mistakes. However for someone to talk the way he has with such disrespect to the people who are trying to help him. And to have the arrogance to tell people that they are wrong in their suggestions and to be so arrogant as to not take any of these suggestions (which are more viable then this super hack he claims) and to do it without even noticing errors in his own speech, and not just minor grammatical errors. If he cant pay attention to his own writing how is he gonna pay attention to what other ppl are doing around him. That is my point. Well, I was actually meaning to say he either used an enigma or a red armor, not a red enigma. From the sound of things, it was more likely a red armor with teleport charges on an amulet, and yes, amulets can have enough charges that he could have teled 20+ times.

Without a merc? he couldnt, but lets conscider the fact that you, in this short and intense "duel", didnt see correctly, and he did have a merc:
Fanatacism: Beast
Might: That other runeword.. the one with like 3 jahs.
Concentration: Pride (merc)
Sanctuary: Theres a 1h weapon with sanctuary, which I highly doubt he was using, but lets conscider that you saw that wrong, and he didnt have sanctuary (why after all, would anyone design a hack to let a played use sanctuary at will...?)
Holy Freeze: Merc
Meditation: Again, a runeword likely on his mercenary.

So, fanat he could have had, same with might. Concentration OR Meditation, the merc had one of them, Sanctuary, was probably not there... Holy freeze, merc.

Thats 4 out of 6, which are easily explained. Now, meditation and sanctuary are the two of those most likely mixed up with Warcries, being a barb, I'd say its likely he had shout, battle command and Battle orders on, and you saw those, and thought those were the Auras. Now, thats 7 things right there, add holy shock on a "dream" hat on his merc, and you've got 8 auras easily explained right there. Add in a second character, which has been suggested to likely be in this somehow, and you can add many many more.

I still say you saw a red armored barb, with a tele amulet, and a lot of auras from runewords and his merc.

Oh... let me also point out how unlikely it is that you would have seen more than a couple auras in a short duel, they take a couple seconds to flash between them, I doubt you would have seen 6 auras in such a short time.

Besides the difference between the aura-flashing-tele barb and that monster, with which i was dueling, is unmatched...
Or maybe there are "e-bay" traded items similar to the elite 1.10 set, granted with the option - "displays aura". This could explain the shoking "red-baloon" skin of the character?

People are getting on you for your posting style because it reminds them of the way people talk on battle.net - Quick, Choppy and riddled with spelling/grammatical errors.

I think one of the main reasons that the majority of people here do not believe your story or think you exaggerated a ~tiny~ bit is that if this guy really had all these hacks like the ones on open, more people would have seen this guy by now. I doubt he decided to show off his uberhacks to only one person on bnet and that person happened to be you.

No, nobody can prove it 100% for sure. But why should we exclude it? If what you were saying was correct (not implying you're lying, just that you didnt see what was going on correctly, dont get me wrong), that a LOT of people would know about it. The fact that nobody has heard anything about it indicates to me (and, judging from the responses, most other people as well), that it really was a mistake on your part, as opposed to a new, be all and end all hack.

One other thing:
You said in your first post that when the barb hostiled, the person you were trading with immediately dropped due to chicken. I thought chicken only dropped ppl who were outside town, not in town where trading has to occur.

My explanation of what occurred:
It does sound like the necro was involved as a teammate of the barb. That's why the barb started talking trash to begin with - to goad you into a fight - which succeeded. Quite standard technique for duelers who rarely get fights. Not sure how the necro was casting amp from so far away - maybe scroll-locking you. Barb teleing so fast (with dual wizzies on switch) that with tired irritated computer-eyes it actually seems like his red armour blurs into the shape of a balloon. He has a souped-up runeworded merc, switches as tele's onto you - merc hits for 3000 - you leave really really fast - before barb can zerk/whirl...
Edit: Also, the barb looked totally different because he changed all his items from fake into real dueling gear, and buffed all auras at some other waypoint then returned to enter blood moor.

If you were curious to know how a level 99 character was killed by townkill perhaps instead of asking "what is townkill" you should have asked "how did he die to townkill"? If you won't phrase your questions in a way as to mean what you want them to mean that's not my problem.

Also, someone should make an open baba really quick with red armor and HoW charges, teleport a bit to get the HoW stacked on the baba, then see if a screenshot of that looks at all familiar to the poster =/

Or maybe Reziarfg (http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/monsters/act5-reziarfg.shtml) finally spawned and took the shape of a red balloon. We all know that Reziarfg has lvl 40 amp damage spell as well as all those auras.

People who ONLY play Diablo by means of leaching and repeated runs are far less experienced than those who actually play the game. Sadly, it is by these methods the vast majority reaches lvl 99.
