would you get more upset over:

A. a failed set roll for an item where you wanted the unique (e.g. double durability magical monarch)

B. a failed unique roll or the unique for an item where you wanted the set item (e.g. triple durability rare lacqured plate) or

C. the exact unique you wanted but it's etheral and unsocketable (e.g. etheral marrowwalks)?

also, which is the case where you get the statistically less likely roll where the more likely roll is more beneficial?

since i never take any notice of the durability on a rare unless its ethereal and/or very good/useful, Im forced to say: C
Thats the only thing i notice

A....Although I don't seem to get very many double durability rares....C is also pretty annoying, but it's still cool to actually find the item.

I'd have to say, I wouldn't notice the other two either.

I had to vote B as I check this sort of thing. Especially weapons, but also items that are generally rare. Have found a 180 durability eth rare vortex shield...

C: I was looking for goreriders once last ladder season to upgrade, and I found a 195%+ eth pair from nightmare baal. Kick in the the teeth.

what about the opposite of C? Find the unique item, but it's not eth and hence useless/woth alot less?
anyways, i never check durability

today i found a failed set russet armor and a failed set gilded shield. :(

once i found a failed unique casque, as the unique had dropped earlier in the game. :)

There isn't one, that is why it failed ;)

since i don't check durability of rares, i would defenetly say C.. and it doesn't really matter if they are socketable or not, since i'm SP.

failed set monarch and failed set shako in the SAME DROP today. :( i got about 3 of those failed shakos. however, the odds finally went in my favor and i got a stormshield. :)

I never check durability, so the first two don't apply to me.

Getting an ethreal unique is pretty annoying (if it's an item without autorepair that a merc can't use), making it an item that's worth just about nothing :-( I've learned that occasionally people want ethreal caster weapons, though, so I'd keep these.

Whether or not it has sockets is of no consequence to me, since I don't have ZODs piled up anywhere --- and even if I did then most likely there are better options for the sockets.
