what would happen if u socket a griswold's edge weapon (17-18 dmg or something) with a jewel with + min dmg ? Would the max dmg go up as well, or what ? mesa very confuzzed
Max damage is always set to min damage + 1 if min >= max. That's the reason that sword has 18 max in the first place, i think. Isenhart's Lightbrand is much the same story.
Edit: d0h! Forgot to answer your question... Yes, the max will go up as much as the min, so adding a sol rune (for instance) would give you 26-27 damage.

He lies! What really happens is that the entire realm implodes! Don't believe me? What do you think happened to USMidWest? Huh?

A more effective way of taking advantage of that is putting 6 sol runes into a military pick with 6 sockets. That will produce a weapon which deals 61-62 damage. However, Sol runes have a level req of 27.

...Which is why you'd be MUCH better off with a Dimensional Blade, or something else exceptional.

That's right, just like any <=L27 weapon with more than 7 mindmg and 6 sockets or one with more than 16 mindmg and 5 sockets etc.
You can get Jewels of Joyfulness +4 usable at clvl 3. Which means you can have a War Axe dealing 34-35 damage at clvl 3. Which is pretty cool if you spend a lot of time at clvl 3 ;)
Note also (important) that the max = min+1 is not applied until the very end of the calculation. So, if you have eg a War Axe with +24 min and 900 Str, your total damage is actually 340-341, not 340-350. So strictly speaking it isn't quite as good as setting max = min+1 directly on the weapon.
