Hi guys,

I haven't made any high-level runewords before, so please bear with me.

I see people talking about how great Fortitude armor is, but this is what I see in the Arreat Summit

Fortitude 4 Socket Weapons/Body Armor El + Sol + Dol + Lo Weapons
20% Chance To Cast Level 15 Chilling Armor when Struck
+25% Faster Cast Rate
+300% Enhanced Damage
+200% Enhanced Defense
+15 Defense
+(1-1.5)-(99-148.5) To Life (Based on Character Level)
Replenish Life +7
+5% To Maximum Lightning Resist

Body Armor
All Resistances +25-30 (varies)
Damage Reduced By 7
12% Damage Taken Goes To Mana
+1 To Light Radius

That weapon looks nice, but correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems a waste to put a Lo rune into such a crappy armor.

thanks

You got the wrong idea man. Both weapons and armors get these bonus:

20% Chance To Cast Level 15 Chilling Armor when Struck
+25% Faster Cast Rate
+300% Enhanced Damage
+200% Enhanced Defense
+15 Defense
+ To Life (Based on Character Level)
Replenish Life +7
+5% To Maximum Lightning Resist
All Resistances +25-30 (varies)
Damage Reduced By 7
12% Damage Taken Goes To Mana
+1 To Light Radius

So, its not a bad idea to use an armor with those stats. My zon, as soon as she gets lvls, will use a 1498 def Archon one :)

That's odd.

So you're saying that if you make a fortitude armor, you get all the bonuses listed.

Why are the bonuses split up like that between armor and weapon? Spirit is written in much the same way, but I'm pretty sure that it applies to either sword or shield, and the bonuses are different for each.

Thanks

That's wrong.

Runeword items have the standard abilities of the runes themself and bonus abilities. For weapons, the standard mods are different then the ones for armors, so look up e.g. here (http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/runes.shtml) which mods are for weapons and which are for armors. For example, a Fortitude armor has +5 max lightning res from the Lo rune while that rune will provide a 20% chance for deadly strike for a weapon.

In any case, IMO it's better to use that runeword for an armor.

Yeah, my bad. But i was aiming at the common bonus, like the 300% dmg, which rocks a lot. Anyways, my bad.
But still a kickass armor... :D
