View Full Version : -35% To Enemy Lightning Resistance
how does this work ??
Crescent Moon (Polearm runeword) has this....
I'm thinking of giving it to my act2 marc so i can use LIghtning Fury (amazon).
Does the monster actually need to be hit by this weapon in order for the resist reduction to work ?
Does it stack ? (2hits = -70% res ??)
Work on Lightning Immunes ??
thanks !

(1) Yes - it only works for the merc - so u wont get any benefit from the -35% ressy to the monster, only your merc will. So it wont be useful to u or to your merc since your merc is melee based. The conviction aura would help u though if u could equip your merc with that runeword.
(2) No , it doesnt stack.
(3) It wont break a lightning immune - but remember that even in Hell some monsters can have 50% lightning resssy - even normal monsters so it will help u to do more damage.
As a note conviction aura wont break many immunes either.
Even a maxed out conviction aura on a pally with a blizz sorc with max cold mastery wont break every cold immune in the game.

To add to Gaza's response, if wielding that kind of weapon, you don't have to hit with it for the -enemy resistances to go into effect. You could, for example, use it on a FoHer, or use a Doom's -enemy cold res on a Wind druid.
ah scrap that idea then hehe !
so lemme get this straight conviction aura which lowers the monster res = good for me to LF
but conviction will have no affect on lightning IMMUNES ?? (when i'm using LF/CS)
What do i need to equip my merc with the get conviction aura ?
i'm guessing its one of them newer runeword things ??

Only Conviction aura and Lower Resist curse can break immunity. Neither -enemy res on items nor Cold Mastery work if the target is immune.
Once immunity is broken with Conv or LR, other modifiers can lower resistance further.
Only Conviction aura and Lower Resist curse can break immunity.
Add Sanctuary (For undead PI only), Decrepify and Amplify Damage to that list.

That's right. My zon relies a lot on ghosts becoming vulnerable to physical attacks from Atma's Scarab. Even though the chance is just 5%, amp gets triggered quite quickly because ghosts often stack in the same place, causing a lot of hits per strafe volley.
