I'm making a classic holy freeze/zeal palladin and am trying to think of a way to beat hell durial (and maybe other cold immunes if needed). Anyone know if 1010% returned damage would be enough to make him beat himself into the ground?

thorns used to be rather nasty in classic ( back when hammerdins first showed up) but it got heavily nerfed in 1.08 and 1.09

I used to have a paladin zealot who would flash thorns and do some nasty damage in pvp. but I tthink its been nerfed beyond use since those days.

What's wrong with using Zeal on Duriel, while wearing some CB gear?

I don't think it's wise to spend 20 skill points just to handle a single monster in the game.

Duriel (as well as Ball's Minions for example) will go down pretty fast with a high lvl Thorns (lvl 20 seems a bit low). Keep in mind that you yourself will take a heavy beating too.

But as KillJoyBob said, don't bother wasting 20 points on a skill for a single monster. If you're using zeal as your main atttack any point in thorns seems a waste to me anyway.

I'd probably rather spend 20 points in Fana for cold inmunes rather than Thorns, since Thorns is only useful against melee attacks and all...

If you mean fana and an eliete weapon, I'm playing classic. Also, doesn't durial use holy freeze? That would make him very hard to beat melee without thorns. Oh, and btw, I wasn't planing on maxxing zeal, only enough points for 5 hits per zeal.
