View Full Version : Dreamer+Torcher COMBO??
Hello guys.
I'd like some input into this build that I hope is feasible. I checked out the guide for making a pure torcher and i thought... why not make hybrid?
20 lit res
20 cold res
20 holy shield
10-20 conviction depending on items to reach slvl 25
everything else into salvation
Main items...
dream helm, dream shield, doom zerker/ettin
Now this build will encompass a full fledged dreamer with charge as his go to skill to kill. I figure with 10 offensive gcs u can hit lvl 25 conviciton fairly easily. ANd on top of that u have a slightly low but synergized holy freeze to really pissoff those melee opponents :D . Not to mention the - cold res from the doom itself ! Thus ppl will have to stack cold res and lit res to really negate your attacks!
SO... is this build viable? have i missed out on anything?
ANother option...
20 lit res
20 foh
20 holy shock
10-20 conviciton depending on items to reach slvl 25
everything else into holy shield.
Main items to wear.... 2X dream
Pretty self explanatory... but this time i can charge and foh ppl to death with fully synergized foh... but low dmg due to lack of combat skillers.
SOme opinions would be nice y'all !

whole lotta answers to be found searchin through the last few pages:)
I've been dying to make a Holy Trinity Zealot/Avenger/Crusader but am not rich enough on ladder >.<, so have only done testing in SP.
The main thought I've been circling around is whether to use 4 aura items, or if one should be left free for a better item to round out your character. On top of that if one item is freed up then which one should it be, and what should it be replaced with?
Quick example;
Which one is best?
Doom Weapon + Dragon Armour + Dream Helm + Hoz
Doom Weapon + Dragon Armour + Dream Helm + SS
Doom Weapon + Dragon Armour + Dream Shield + CoA
Doom Weapon + Dragon Armour + Dream Shield + Griffons
Doom Weapon + Dragon Shield + Dream Helm + Enigma
Doom Weapon + Dragon Shield + Dream Helm + CoH
Doom Weapon + Dragon Armour + Dream Helm + Dream Shield
Doom Weapon + Dragon Armour + Dream Helm + Dragon Shield
And other such variations...
Unfortunatly for both of us my mind is stuck in a somewhat-eternal spiral of indecisivness and cannot seem to land on an answer.
On the note of the Dreamer with FoH
I've tried it and it ain't good. Anything that is LI hence preventing you using normal means of attack, will not be dealt enough damage from FoH even with Conviction to actually be effective. I've tried it on paper, SP, and the realms, and the damage just isn't there.
heh.. i dont want to worry about LIs becuz this is for pvp only.
Same situation applies. You use either FoH or Zeal/Charge as your main attack. Once you encounter someone who can negate it, then they have also negated your backup attack. GG.

my thought is any char using vengances as its attack SHOULD go for the MOST base damage you can get. ( since the attack itsself gives you major ele bonuses ) to that end I think a grief PB ROCKS on a venger.... your base damage is major high and major consistant. which makes your char a killer in PVM... ( Ive put grief on my dreamadin with max veng. although im not a fan for cookie cutting weapons for pvp it was a great choice in terms of massive killspeed... but for pvp I went lower damage and faster hitting w beast)
I do agree that the new basic auradin builds have really opened the way for more variations for paladins.. aka now that its been proven to work how can we get it to work differently.
Sadly the +damage modifier on Grief does not add to Vengeance's Elemental damage. Famine or EBotD are still the staple weapons for Avengers. This doesn't mean that others are not usable however. In PvP it's a mute point anyway, as Vengeance is not a good skill. The Holy Freeze on Doom provides you with at least something to counteract the interruptibility that is your main attack :(.
Personally I'm leaning towards Crusader, as it removes the need for any IAS as your gear will be quite restricted.
