are there fun duels anymore?

When i used to play over a year ago, things got to much into number crunching like i can get an extra 0.0001 damage if i use this weap instead of that one.

duelers seemed like they were babies playing, and could only duel if they were able town or body camped. and cry over spilt milk if they lost a duel.

are there many people inbetween those 2 senerios above willing to do some fun dueling on west once I finish travelling in about a months time?
I will have to create an account and start from scratch, dueling with crap gear tends to be more fun and interesting anyways.

I won`t be finished travelling till april sometime, and will be starting out from scratch.

so gear wise who cares if i am using a cracked sash a lvl 15 in a duel with a 2 socket short sword with a chipped emerald and saphire. magic gloves with 10%chance to cast lvl 3 charge bolt when struck, hard leather armor with 1 chipped ruby ect.

How totally rich will i be to use a cracked sash at lvl 15. hehe

if ya can`t duel with crap what makes you think you can be a better dueler with better gear?

Well....its like this, ill give a tennis metaphor: we work on the mechanics of our games (the gear in d2), and our strategy, cross court down the line..(the skill in d2).
without proper gear u will lose to a mindless topgear player, once u have good gear u need to tinker ur strat, but gear is a basic (with small exceptions). A blind amazon player with very good gear will probably beat u if u dont have and decent items at all....... :(

i used to duel in .09 used a trapper with crap gear.
bowzons using there iths ect would usually get beaten.
cos most have the good gear, but don`t know how to use it.

my trapper had base life over 200 stat points to play with over 20skill points to play with at lvl 66. and could move at one hell of a speed, had about 450r/w or so back then. you see even if you have the best gear, you will always have weaknesses, someone who knows how to duel doesn`t need the best gear to exploit someones weaknesses. most zons at the time had negative resists in hell, slow fhr, and slow r/w to boot. this build of girl in this patch i assume won`t last to long against decent duelers, but against those that don`t know how to duel she will still win even if they have got great gear.

when i do come back i will be very rusty, but hey who cares.
when it comes to legit, very few people who duel are anyways.
i doubt that much stuff is legit anymore, thank god they got rid of the white rings, you will know what i am talking about, it takes no skill at all to wear a ring that absorbs 95% cold/fire/light. they are the wanna be call me a dueler i got whites now and an ith waiting for me a lvl what ever.

I am not talking about pro wanna bees that ebay all there crap, i am talking about those who will duel for the fun of it, at a low lvl and not need the greatest gear to have fun in a duel.

I am not as much into physic`s and maths as alot of you people are, I prefer to also have a life as well.

A blind amazon has many weaknesses,
always plays defensive
usually low fhr
usually slow r/w
usually low resists
if she is going for high damage out put most likely she will have pumped up dex and have a fairly low life.
no poison length reduce

if you go for maximising one area
you will create a weakness in another area

people never bother to think to much at all, just go with the latest fad in a build someone was successful at 5mins earlier. it just becomes far to common.

where do i say having a fun duel means you need the best gear to duel??
having a fun duel, you can even duel using wirts leg with someone in cows, while there are cows around, that could kill you in a couple of hits.

to have FUN you don`t need the best gear.

please explain to me why you need the best items to have FUN in a duel?

deep down everyone wants to win atleast sumtime, sure u dont need an awesome sports car to b happy, but it doesnt hurt. u can barrage us with all the examples and stories that u want but the bottom line is most of these godly characters will trump u. also another point, if u spend alota time mfing instead of practicing and have godley gear but r a less expeirenced dueler....c things even out.
skill or items both required time, if u go to the root source.
and assuming that us godley chars* have no life.....very steryotypical, but lets just even the playing field and consider everyone here *foruming* a nerd. In the light of what u said about ebay char, it seems since if they hire a powerlvling service, and purchase all their gear they spend less time initially "setting up", More time 4 Life!

Thanks for reminding me about ironmans, i totally forgot about those games.

Is there usually a mod still in the ironman games, or are there different ironman game styles.

eg party and lvl until lvl 9 then all go hostile then becomes a ffa in blood moor
or not ffa but 1v1 no ganging up while 2 people are dueling

or lvl up seperately until lvl 9 then hostile when someone else becomes lvl 9 as well.

yeah, should be interesting to do that for a little bit again.

All the ironmans I've played have been everyone lvling up to lvl 9 and then a ffa in blood moor. But of course there's always "teaming up" and ganging up on people. Poison zons/summon druids/ts sins usually dominate though. I've seen a few people still do the 1 vs 1 type but that's usually not as fun. You could also do something like "sorc only" ironmans which are also interesting.

8 player game. Ironman, hardcore. No partying whatsoever. Every player must WALK to Inner cloister. As soon as you hit the wp, immediately go to town and hostile everybody. You cannot go hostile without hitting the wp first. Once you hostile, start hunting. The idea is everybody should be completely scattered around act one trying to lvl up enough to hostile, as no leaching will be possible....
