View Full Version : Can Unique-mods Disappear?

A month or so ago I aquired a Heaven's Might which was socketed with a Perfect amythist and a normal amythist. One of the mods that this weapon is supposed to have is 33% crushing blow. However, I only noticed crushing blow damage when equiping Blood-crafted gloves. I then unsocketed the Heaven's Might and saw the 33% crushing blow. I didn't actualy notice the missing mod, I'm using the above statement of the gloves in order to support what I believe to be its previous non existance. So, to the actual question:

Have any of you ever expierenced any similar disapperance of Unique or Set mods due to socketing, particularly with a lower grade gem?

I'm not sure that if this occurs that it would necessarily be considered a bug, as it is quite logical that a low grade gem would adversely effect a high quality item. With this in mind I openly wonder if this could be used to some advantage, I know that some rune words have "bad" mods (but obviously these are not considered in this question) are there uniques or sets that have similar unwanted mods that could, with extensive testing and a lot of hel runes, be removed? Thank you for your time. Good Day ~* DP

I've never heard of this bug. So your saying that when you had the amethyst's in the weapon, it didn't have the crushing blow modifier, but when you removed the gems, it regained the property, but now it's not working?

Logically speaking (at least, in game terms), socketting a chipped gem into a unique item, and them removing it, should have no affect on the item (apart from removing the chip gem's property from the item's stats of course).

Oh, to answer your question, I've never met a situation where the properties of a unique was lost after socketting in any gem (low grade, or perfect).

I can't be much more of a help, sorry :/

Most likely there somehow was not enough space to display all the mods of the item.

The game always finds enough space to display all the mods, unless it's a hacked item of some sort and fills the screen from top to bottom.

I've never heard of unique mods disappearing like that, but I know that some items, when first dropped by a monster, get bugged. This means that they either recieve mods they're not supposed to have, or get mods taken away from them that they are supposed to have.

Gems/runes/jewels socketed into items only give the effect of what's on the gem/rune/jewel. When they get taken out, only the mods that were on the gems/runes/jewels get taken out.

i once thought that i was missing a mod on one of my bows...turns out i was in windows mode and when i viewed the item the last mod was "offscreen" just had to move my diablo window up an inch...felt like a knob
