Questions about smite vs smite

Me and my friend are both building smiters and i have a couple questions about what happens when we pk.

1. Does range on the weapon matter? To me it seems like since your using your shield to attack, the range shouldn't matter too much. I decided to go with a war spike for the faster attack and my friend went with a zerk. Was hoping someone would clear this up for me.

2. Does fhr matter in smite duels? Again to me it doesn't seem like its that important in smite duels.

3. How much does ed add to smite damage? Its not listed so its hard to figure out if it will help. Does anyone know how to figure this out, or give me a site that and calculate it, it would be really helpful.

theres two schools of thought on smite atm.

there is the Phazeblade and get all the IAS you need from the weapon but sacrfice range thus freeing you up for a better ammy and belt and using some good IAS gloves if needed for the 6fps smite

OR

use a zerk which is slower than dirt and you have to have nice gloves and an IAS ammy and sometimes even nos coil for the ias to hit 6 fps BUT you have THE best range a one hand weapon can have for a paladin....



now in play a PB smiter will usually charge to close up that range difference then switch to smite ( which equates to ONE you had better hit with the charge and TWO you had better have a finger on a hotkey to get to smite ASAP )

a zerk smiter can Hold shift and name lock and pretty much clean house on melee chars cause he has the range to beat out anyone coming at him save for two hand weapon users with a range of 5 for example. aka a WW barb with a ebotd warpike has 5 range and can skirt by the zerk smiter and eat him up IF he stands out of his range and lets the WW pass..

all true but i use a 40 ias grief zerker. with a level 26 or 27 fanat (cant remember which) and bloodfists, i hit 6 fpa and have range 3 :clap:

try to get the 40 ias zerker it makes a big difference :uhhuh:
