View Full Version : Single Player Bowazon - Which runes to use?
It's my second post in this forum, so please be gentle if I post improperly...
I've been playing since D2 came out, though in Single Player mode only.
I was hoping for some advice on how to fill the sockets in a bow I have. It's a Double Bow with 4 sockets.
Would 3 Tal runes (75 poison damage) be a good way to go? It's what I've TYPICALLY done, but is it the best way? For a fourth, would a Nef (knockback) be good?
To let people know, I usually have Freezing Arrow as my attack mode.
Thanks for any and all help!

First of all try to include more information... what act are you in.. what are you having trouble with...Secondly a socketed double bow doesn't sound like a very good weapon...I once took an bowazon to act 4 hell with a 4 socketed long bow, and this isn't the way to go..
You probably don't have a lot of good bows but try running some act bosses and you'll probably find one.. there are a lot of exceptional bows that are quite good (Magewrath, Kuko, Witchwild String) any of these bows would be preferrable to the one you have now. While the poison damage from Tal runes is nice and knockback is a very good thing to have from a bowazon.. your damage output will be quite low. Also it is very nice to have decent physical damage on your bow to help mana/life leech.
there's nothing improper about your post... just try and be as specific as possible as it will help when someone tries to give you advice. Don't be afraid to ask questions, that's what these forums are for...
Lastly hello and welcome to the forums:)
Hi and welcome to the forums! It is best to run some bosses to get your best bows, with the best damage output. If you play single player, there is a huge community of single players on these forums here (http://www.rpgforums.net/forumdisplay.php?forumid=3) . Introduce yourself there and check out the stickies, too. Get ATMA there and begin to see what muling is all about.
What level is your bowazon and where in the game are you? If you let me know I may be able to help you out and send a bow to you to use for a while. It is free just for your e-mail addy. :D

Thank you for the welcome and thanks for the links!
The bowazon (now in Nightmare difficulty) just hit level 40.
It's not that I'm having difficulty, per se, it's just that I don't know if I'm running the character to its utmost.
Not surprisingly, I've yet to come across a Rare bow - of any sort. I've got the Tan Li Do kris as my secondary weapon, which is a rare, but not a bow. This 4 socketed double bow has been, by far, the best option I've found.
Run Baal for a while, surely you'll find some rare bows eventually, if not something better. I think a Wizendraw unique long battle bow would be awesome for you.
Hi, if you play SP, you must go to the SP forum! Great place and legit one also!
To your question.
I would socket it with ORTs/ITHs. More physical damage means more mana/life leach. But ORTs give you high elemental damage, which is probably better in terms of total damage.
You can get knockback on hit power crafted gloves. (magical chain gloves+Perfect saphire+any jewel+ORT)
Note: Double Bow is a good bow because it is fast.
Note2: any exceptional unique will be better, but you have to find some first. So get yourself as much Magic Find equipment as you can.

sp zons questions are welcome here....good posts are few and far between here...don't scare off new members...lol
at lower lvls i always liked using skulls...leech
nefs...knockback
eld....huge boost damage to undead ....works better with higher damage bows
eths....if you are having problems hitting
it seems like i always was able to pick up a better bow just after i have given up all hope and socketed my available runes

Isn't that the truth! Socket your bow and think it willl last for a while, then next thing you know, some Ob Knight drops one for you 5 minutes later. lol!
