Socket Question

Ok I didn't know where to ask this question So i decided to ask it here...
I have a question about socketing...
Magical Items...
I was going to socket a helm with life so i could use it on my zon so of course i wasn't thinkin and took it to that guy in act 5 maybe hoping he would give me 3 sockets.....
Didn't happen...
So i was just wondering how the heck do u get max number of sockets in magical items?

You don't. It's either 1 or 2 for magic, with a 50% chance for either. Unless of course, the base item can't have more than one socket, which in that case it's 100% chance for one socket.

You can't. They have to be white items to get the max sockets.

Hmm well I suppose people find them with 4 sockets then?
I ask people how do u get four sockets in that armor and they all act like its this big secret that NO one can know about........

Yes, they can _drop_ with 3 or 4 sockets, artisans or jewelers prefix (on magic items only).

I thought you were asking about how you get max sockets by the the Larzuk quest. Sorry for the confusion.
