I've been using a poleaxe Insight on my WW barb for a while now and I was wondering if it was possible to upgrade the poleaxe to the exceptional version using the horadric cube. If not, is it possible to upgrade a normal (socketed) weapon and then make the runeword out of it? Thanks for your help.

No, sorry. The cube only lets you upgrade rares and uniques.

Isn't the runeword considered a unique after it has been made, and thus able to be upgraded via the Cube?
