First, I applaud Stoned Llama for sending me his stash full of items - some tradeables, others for his own use. Stand up of him. :cool:

I've emailed him this info, but told him I would summarize here as well. He has two problems:

1) Internal dupes. ATMA detected three dupes within his stash. None of the three items were common dupes/hacks, so I assume operator error mistakes (likely because of importing & exporting). I recommended he first delete one of each, and then go through his active characters to see if he had other dupes.

2) Hacked items - much more problematic. He has these hacked items in the stash

I also assume he has more of these on his chars.

I didn't see any other items that were obvious hacks/dupes.

Based on his honesty in sending them to a Mod, I further assume he came across these via trades with others.

Now, assuming Stoned Llama still wants to trade here, what do you all recommend he do? Be constructive please.

First, I commend honesty, however, that does not change facts.

Have any of your characters used the hacked items? If the any character answers yes, that character is tainted, and anything found by that chacter (even before the use of the item) is thus tainted, and untradable.

Because one cannot prove what characters used what items and who found what, the only way I will accept Llama as a trading member here is if and only if he does a complete restart.

He should take it as an opportunity to restart his item database from scratch by deleting his old item and find new LEGIT one. IMO, if he was honest enough to send his stash to a mod, he deserves a 2nd chance though i won't trade with him for a while.

We all know how easy it is to:

a) Manufacture items.
b) Lie over the internet.

So:

a) The guy Dlloaded an item pack - he assumed you wouldnt be able to tell the items were hacked.
b) The guy created the items with an editor - he assumed you wouldnt be able to tell the items were hacked.
c) He recieved them in a trade.

If a) or b) is true, then he should get an immediate bad. If c) is true, then he should delete everything he owns and start fresh. However, as it is so ridiculously easy to lie on the internet, I believe that there will never be any way of telling if he has deleted everything, or if he was telling the truth about recieving items in a trade. Plus, the trader may be one of his friends, who he plays MP games with. So his items will be tainted from being in games with him.

So thus, a permenant ban is the solution I come to. Our trade pool is already murky. We don't need anymore of this stuff.

I think he should get a second chance, because of his honesty, if he hacks again, a perm ban would fix that. I think that the rules on the SPF are not enforced enough.

Example1: some guy goes here and asks where to get editors, item packs, lvl 99 chars, etc... All he gets is a warning.

If someone would do the equivalent of this in Class Specific, or the non SP trading forums he wouldn't get away so easily.

Example2: "W0W, meh boteh fonudeh teh 1337eh 174Mzzz. Meh havrs ubre MapH4X, s meh saves lots of gold in ID scrolls. meh Ub4r bothe die neverly, because he using Atuo Ami. now meh wnants to trade meh leggehit 39 290, for zome ozzer guyz legtig 39 3 20 20. Good dael? Me cna dupe mehserf more 290, but meh havest non 3 20 20, os me cna't dupeing it for meh use. By teh wey, i pwn ur soel, mwahahaha"

He would probably get at least a temp ban, very possibly a permanent one.

Sounds like a simple mistake to me, and he proabbly didn't know he even got the hacked itemz(giving him the benifit of dout here) in a trade. but i am with frosty, a delete of his stash and a complete restart, if it happens again the big ban stick should be swift. But then again i proabbly still wont trade any thing with him for a while..Cryist

Well my take on the situation is that it is not worth it to stay on this forum. I am not truly devoted to playing d2 singleplayer. I do not play enough to make it worth my time to start all over. You guys can believe me or not, but what you are considering hacked items are simply items that predate 1.10 expansion. I have been playing diablo for over 5 years, so i have some old items.... Think whatever you want. No ban required, i will not be back. I was just playing for fun, and hoped you guys could help me get some items that i could not attain myself. Sorry it worked out this way. I appologize for "diluting" your perfect single player trading system. Thanks to those people who were actual helping me. Later fellas...

Seriously. You can find those items in a weeks worth of MF'ing. Believe me, I found them all during the MFO.

I wouldn't go that far. I have been playing for about 4 years and I have 2 SOJs and one mara to show for it. I wouldn't dream of being able to find these two items in a measly week. Unless I wanted no life at all:)

Well, my original response was going to be to agree with the restart. I probably would have waited to trade with you, but would have donated some starter equipment to the cause of starting over. I really, really do try to give people the benefit of the doubt, even when warning bells are going off in my head. The downside of this is that I get angry once I realize that the warning bells were right.

I don't appreciate the tone of your post. You can play the game anyway that makes it fun for you. (That is the point of games.) However, you have to let us do the same, and that means being a little aggressive when it comes to being legit. That is the way we enjoy playing the game.

Now I get to be a witch with a capital "B" and point out the obvious: You guys can believe me or not, but what you are considering hacked items are simply items that predate 1.10 expansion. I have been playing diablo for over 5 years, so i have some old items.... Think whatever you want.This directly contradicts the ATMA reading you posted of Tal's Orb, which says 1.10 expansion. Please, again, do what ever you want to make the game fun for you, but don't treat us like idiots and try to make us feel bad for questioning your items.

That pretty much answers the question. You cannot find any item level 1 exceptional items, no matter what version you're playing in. This is for your information, nothing else.

I'm with the rest of the forum on this. Stoned, you are not trustworthy in my eyes, and I would not trade with you. Barring a full restart, which you have now refused, I recommend that you are not allowed to trade here.

AE lifts your trading "ban," I recommend others trade at their own risk. I am not sorry, as I have no tolerance for hacked and/or duped items.
