Can i unsocket a runeword in an item, and place the runes in it again to get better stats? My newly made HOTO had 30% all res :( I WANTED 40 :'(

Major bummer Lazy :(
U can remove the runes BUT BE AWARE!!! You will lose the runes forever!
Try to trade the Hoto for some ists...should be around 2-3 and then trade your ists for a new vex and make another HOTO!

I don't believe that selling a 30% HotO will get enough Ists for a new Vex, but anyway, selling is still better than unsocketing the flail and effectively getting nothing for it. A 4 socket flail can be found in nm cows and it costs perhaps 5 pgems, so get a new one plus the runes if you can afford to be that picky ;)
Another alternative (and that's what I would do) is keeping that HotO and buying 2 5% allres SCs which cost 2 Um-Ist.

okay I guess I'll try to trade the VERY BAD HOTO away :P but if I had unsocket the flail and used the same runes would it had gotten exactly same stats? What determens the stats? Once a game I was in (just after I had created a runeword) dropped out. Then when I made a new game the runeword was gone, but when I placed the runes in the item once again I got the exactly same stats :P that's why I wonder if it is even worth just to unsocket, and re-use the same flail :S

Its just luck concerning stats on Hoto! Just pray for good luck!

I tried the Spirit runeword on the same monarch several times and it produced different ones, so it was pure incidence in your case.

As said before - you canīt use "the same runes" since you will destroy them in unsocketing process. You can use another set of Sur, Cham, Amn, Lo for a new random effect. It doesnīt make much sense though because, as said before (once again) even a bad HotO is a way more usefull than a very common 4 soc flail.

He explained it in the second part of his posting:

I had to read it several times as well. It means, he made the HotO and then the game crashed, so his character got rolled back, with the runes and the flail in separate. The second try produced a HotO with the same resistance.
As I said, it was pure incidence.

Oh, I see... sorry for my negligent reading ;)

You know, 30 res. all doesn't exactly suck on a weapon and you can easily make up the difference with charms. Your next roll could just as easily be 31 as it could be 40.
