hi. only a minor rant, but this has been going on for a couple years now. when i quest from 1 act to the next, i tend to get disconnected. when i rejoin i am always in the next act. i can live with that:)
just wondering if there is something i can do to avoid this? is happens approx 75% of the time.thx.

this error is usually connected to any hacks that you have on your computer...especially c3po hacks. One thing is to take out he hacks completely from your computer

By disconnection, do you mean error? Another possible reason might be your cinematics crashing out. A cause of this is probably a bad video driver. The easiest solution would be to uninstall and re-install the game on the multiplayer option (instead of full installation). This'll ask you to insert the cinematics CD when you jump between acts, and you can just click cancel.

If you mean you get an error, it's probably because you have the -ns command line parameter in your D2 shortcut. It disables sound, but can crash the game sometimes when passing (via just completed end-act quest) to the next act. I've had that happen for a long time whenever I used that parameter in my shortcut.

i dont use hacks. never have. takes the fun out of the game.
i dont get an "error". the door begins to open, then i am disconnected.
as for the command line/parameter, i dont know what that means, im not that computer literate:(
as for the cinematics, i certainly can give it a try. there is nothing worse than sitting there waiting on the "rejoin" screen to pop back up.

Same kind of thing happens to me too. However, the game only crashes out when I complete an act for the first time with a new char. For example, if I kill Andy for quest credit, the game freezes for a while then shuts off. Once I bring that character back into a game, I can then kill Andy with that char as much as I want without the game crashing again.

This sounds like what is happening to me, but I am already using partial installation, so the game asks me to insert the cd for the cinimatic. When I click on cancel, D2 just shuts down. I run multiple copies of Diablo on 2 different pcs to help mule and self rush. This only happens on 1 of my pcs. The other one is fine. This also leads me to believe it's a driver problem with my pc.

I just try to use my "good" pc for any characters that will get quest credit and need to go to the next act. I can see how frustrating it would be if you only had a single pc and it happend everytime you switched acts. I can't offer you any help for this situation, but rest assured you are not alone. It happens to me too. If anyone does know how to fix this problem, I would be extremely greatful.
