I made this runeword on a Ethereal Great Hauberk and was curious if anyone has had a similar experience. The defense was 850 before the runeword and after it's 3012 but the Enhanced Defense says 300 but according to the runeword it's supposed to be between 270-290. I thought that seemed rather odd. If anyone has had similar a experience I'd be curious to hear about it. If anyone is interesed I could post a pic. If I can find somewhere to host it. :)

It wasn't by chance a superior item with 10-15% ED? The superior should not show up once the runeword is placed but the extra 10-15% will be added in to the ED% of the runeword.

Perhaps you used a Superior Ethereal Great Hauberk? In that case, you could have had 15% enhanced defense on it already... Can't remember the base stats on a sup eth GH right away, but I remember sup eth Wire Fleeces can get to 830 so 830ish defense seems OK.

Thanks for the replies.. Unfortunately I'm not sure what it was before. Even if it did have 10 or 15 ed I'm perplexed at the final defense. 3012 doesn't compute. 300% of 850 doen't add up to 3012. Is there some secret formula or does ethereal make it some how different?

Thanks!

That's +300%, so multiply times 4. but yeah, that still doesn't add up. That's still some pretty badass armor though and a VERY nice roll (only 5% short of max assuming it got the superior 15% enhanced def bonus). Does armor Def max out at 3012? I tried some numbers assuming that the Ethereal 50% bonus only applies to the original base armor score but that didn't pan out either. Def was way too low.

Oh, but it DOES add up... just remember that though the initial defense was 850, the BASE defense was 850/1.15 so then with those values, the base defense was 739. Now, take this value, and multiply with (100% + ED%)/100% and you should get the final number. ...or go the other way around, and take 3012/((100%+ED%)/100%) and then you'll have a small (5% or so in this case) error since you don't remember how much the superior ED was.

Does armor Def max out at 3012?
Take a look on open battle.net and ask to see some hacked items... Armor def doesn't max out before at least 50,000 def.

The math is pretty straight foreward.

The Armor was superior - we can't tell what the actual value was, since the total reported is a combination of the the runeword roll + the inital superior bonus. However, all we need to know is the final tally (Which is 300% enhanced defence)

All Sup armor spawns as Max+1, so the base defence of the Great Hauberk was 502

502 * eth bonus of 50% = 753. Now apply the 300% bonus - 753*4 = 3012. A very good roll!

Cheers

Thanks Guys.. I've been reading this forum for years and it never ceases to amaze me the amount of knowledge and help that abounds here. I'll consider myself lucky and the next time I'll pay more attention. Too bad it was in sc and not hc. Perhaps I'll find another someday.

Thanks again to all of you!!
