View Full Version : Would FCR Help a Meteorb Sorc?

Hi Everyone,

I just built my first mf sorc (barbs take too long to do a run) and she is a stock meteorb sorc. I have a bunch of stat points building up, and I was wondering if it was worth building up strength to be able to carry around a spirit monarch (for the fcr) and a 4 isted monarch on switch for the kill. Since currently I only use either orb or meteor, would the fcr on the spirit help speed up the timer or anything?

Since i'm very new to the ways of the sorc, any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

It will help your teleporting wich is crucial for getting faster MF runs in. Also it will slightly increase your casting speed (if it takes 8 frames to cast a meteor vs 7 frames you will still get more damage faster over time). However it's not really a noticable difference.
You'll want to aim for either 63%FCR or 115 (105 is still buggy) FCR.

Hope that helps you out.

Well. With a meteorb sorc, you really shouldn't be close enough to the battle to have to use a monarch ... but you could always make it in a grim shield, or some other such shield.

But yes, the FCR will help you somewhat I do believe.

Unless I'm mistaken, a monarch is the lowest str reqt shield that can give you 4 sockets (as required for spirit).

Even if you cast with 7 or 8 fpa , you still need to wait for the casting delay. So it doesn't really matter at all. If you have a 7 fpa casting speed you cast , and then need to wait 23 frames (a total of 30 frames = 1.2 sec). With 8 fpa you cast , and wait 22 frames before you can cast again.

The only thing more FCR helps with meteorbs is teleport and staticfield.

Thanks lunatic that was the point I was trying to make (albit poorly worded). :D

And yeah Monarch is the only sheild for a sorc that wants to use Spirit (you may as well get a stormsheild on the switch cuz you've already invested the str)

Aehm, you guys seem to be forgetting one thing. As a Meteorb you will (hopefully) also use Fireball ALOT, and that benefits alot from FCR. Also its useful for teleporting. The timered spells will not profit from FCR though.
