Best Pit Drops

Like the title says. What was your best Pit Drop? I just started running the Pit and the best I've found so far is Hellforged Plate. Looked cool but I couldn't wear it (low strength only 170)so I sold it to Charsi. Has anyone actually found a Zod there or Tyreals Might? You get the idea. Since you can supposedly get almost any drop there what's your highest?

i only done them a couple of times b/c they were quite boring.. the best items i found was a lightning skiller and a 3 os phase blade (crescent moon)

Best thing I found was an sup eth CB with 14% ed. However it didnt have anything to do with mf ... nowaydays my mfsorc is just rotting away, its so boring :o

Best i found was a Vex rune from a fallen or fallen shaman if ima not wrong -_-

In the beginnig of ladder1 i did alot of pits..and i mean ALOT, but it payed off, and here are some of the things i remember finding there :

Ohm
Ist
14% eth BA
2 x soj
2 x mara's (one perfect)
HoZ
Death's web (never got to id it..lost couse of r/d)
Windforce (it was still popular back then :D )

So it was worth the time..but it takes alot of patience though, since sometimes you can run it like 100+times without finding even one crappy unique

i find from pits runs a shako, vipermagi, straing of ears, buriza and many great items.But i never found a high rune.

i do pits all the time and yes you can find every item in tha area but them ones that you can only find in specific areas, like annihilus from diablo clone witch needs to spawn on a super unique monster witch non are in the pit, and th cow king set witch you only find in the cow lvl. other then this you can find everything.

items i mhave found in the pits

asterons, griffons eye, deaths fathom, shadow dancers, corwn of ages, darkforce spawn, and many other less rare uniques

so yes it worth it and if you run with say 300ish mf you shouldnt have any trouble finding these higher more rare uniques, it really just a matter of time and luck. dont give up if you do 10 or 50 runs and find nothing, you will get your day

Wouldn't it be better to find this stuff on Hell Baal runs with a hammerdin or a Bone Necro or something?

FYI Mercurus, all that stuff can be found in Nightmare and Normal. I'd recommend getting ATMA for its drop calculator. You'd be surprised what some of the optimal MF bosses are for certain items.

The Pit is an area located in Act 1 Tamoe highlands. You can reach it by taking the Outer Cloister waypoint and following the road it'll branch off. One branch will lead to the Black Marsh and the other will lead to the Pit ( a hole in the ground). In normal and nightmare you won't find much but in Hell difficulty you can find all sorts of stuff in The Pit.

Ive found some nice superior archons that I made into 4 soc for COH as well as an arachnids mesh. I agree totally with the leveling, its a great palce to level a 80-90 character.

baal can drop tyreals, nihlathak can drop it but pindleskin cant. tyreals comes from TC 87 and has a qlvl of 87 meaning the monster droping it must drop from tc 87 and be at least lvl 87, pindle is lvl 86. monsters in "the pit" act 1 are lvls 85 for normal 87 for the champs and 88 for the uniuqes and all drop tc 87, this makes tyreals might able to dop in that area and many others, few areas in each act meet this criteria(hell only mind you)

I still pit run with my lev 92 barb, he's got about 225mf and I find all sorts of stuff. Within the last month:
2x shako
ik armor
talrashas armor
2x vex
2x mal
2x ist
lots of real nice soc items incl eth 5soc colussus blade

Im still fairly happy with the exp gain as well. When you consider that your in and out in approx 5 minutes, with minimal danger and above average mf, I prefer pit runs to Baal runs. The problem I have with Baal runs (talkin about hardcore here), its hard to get on good runs, they take longer and are more dangerous (unless u got someone to tele), I "never" seem to get the drops and someone is always trying to pk!

Obviously Baal runs would be a lot more appealing if you were doing with people you knew, is there a channel where people meet to do baal runs by any chance?

I did about 15 pit runs last night just because of this thread. I did not find a single unique, but did get two pieces of vidala's and a cathans ring.

On the flip side, plain, os and rare elite stuff was dropping like mad. Got a set of rare chain gloves (not elite I know..but they will be) for my zon w/ +2 passive(? I think..might have been bow), dual leech (4% or so) and some MF (30% or so?). Also 3 OS sacred armor (wealth for my mf barb), archon plate and a magic mighty scepter which will become a crafted weapon and a SC with 10% LR and 6%(?) MF (I think..all stats off the top of my head) .

My take for crafting supplies rocked.. just no uniques or runes. Ohh and tons of gold from selling stuff.

It was actually satisfying. It got boring so I went on to doing council and cow runs for gems. (I have a mule full of NM Trav SC's to reroll :) )

why use nm travi sc's for re rolling?

best thing i found was probably a 5 sock beserker axe but i didnt do all that many runs.

+res charms.

+11% res all for one inv space is actually a fair trade for me...especially since I have a problem accumulating res on my gear.

Best chance to get them are from NM act 3, Trav or the underground places like the fane or temple. I just seem to get the most SCs from the council.

giveing up after 15 runs is nothing, if you dont find anything after 10000 runs then give up you will find your uber items sooner or later

Did about 20 pit runs last night.

Only unique that dropped was an Ethereal ormus.
Dont remeber stats tho..

Did find a VEX out of a chest in sewers lvl 2.
(not a chest, but a green blubby thingie)

My barb has Enigma, Gheeds and War Travs. I don't even think that's considered as MFing...

I've found a Unq Legendary Mallet, Scourge... most of them are just normal or exceptional junk.

But due to my low MF, I find tons of socketables, each worth around a Pul, every other run.

What players setting were you on? If you can clear Pits on players8 with high MF (300 or more) you can get great stuff to drop. Of course, there's something called luck involved too.

Sometimes you can go many runs with nothing dropping. You will find a ton of socketables, gold and rares and jewels etc ... but then all of a sudden you get surprised with some high end stuff.


I was on bnet..I'd love /players 8 on bnet :)

I started doing pit runs because I got bored with trav/meph runs. Then I got bored with bit and did more trav meph until I got bored...then I did baal....then I got bored and went and level my zon.. it's all about what moves me at the time. :)

Last night I started a skellimancer..because normally all I play is melee characters. He may never pass the lvl 10 barrier, but it was something to do :)

My strafer just became big enough to do pits by herself (HCL). Today i just did about 5 runs in 1-player game with 7%mf and found

1*vex (my biggest rune ever) and
1*Tal armor (my first)
1*5os eth great poleaxr

So I would say i'm off to a good start! :)

I have heard that the pit drops are good but the best i have found was Aldurs set items. Why do pit drops when you can do Cow runs?! When "running with the cows" I have found almost everything I have been trying to trade for.

Cow runs??? After you quit game no more cow runs with that character my friend.

I got bored of pits too, but will do it in few days when I got bored of andy, countess, mephisto...
Pits will level you easily at level 90. So gp for leveling and you will find something. I hope for Ber, WF and HoZ...
