I suspect that the decline in EHCL and probably WHCL recently is due to WoW - now that the game is out in Europe too, I suspect that EuHCL will slow down a bit too.

I have noticed that some of the regulars of the past from this site are notably absent.

I think it slow for one of 3 reasons

1-WoW like you mentioned is taking some people
2-Lots of people are not playing as much...waiting for ladder to reset
3-Most people that have played all season have almost all the items but the super elites (runewords,anni,etc)

But I bet there be a lot more posts when ladder resets
