Prior to posting this, i read the beserker guide in the Barb forumn. Still have my doubts as to whether he can survive... So anyone tried a successful beserker in HC. Kindly give some advice....
Since with beserk, ur def reduce to 0. So to shield or not?? Becos with shield u can be thrown into the blocking animation w/o sufficient FBR.
HC beserkers out there, if u have any tips pls/ feel free to chip in.
Also mind if u list ur skills

get some warcry skills or you'll get owned in hell.
mmm appearently maxed howl breaks up pretty much all groups into bite-sized chunks. since howl is also a synergy with zerk its a good choice.
heres some tips:
fast weapon
good fhr
if you insist on a shield, either whitstans, mosers or shael-eth

Ok since this is my 1st barb, to play safe, i go with shield, those 3 shields u mentioned shd be ez to get, esp shael-eth.

I would not run a shield. Bezerk is an interruptable attack, which absolutely sucks when trying to attack anything more than 1 or 2 monsters. My advice would be base dex and pump your life to 4.5-5k.
Also, they do huge damage, but with no leech, you are constantly potting.
They work best PvM with a good 2 handed weapon. I built one with an upped ribcracker and it was pretty sweet, although don't be upset when you get tendonitis of the forearm for the amount of times you have to click the attack button on your mouse...

It's viable, though you won't be a fast-killing machine.
My zerker is lvl85 iirc, finished hell without a problem.
Max bo, zerk and synergies, no shield, and I used a mace for two reasons:
1. No need to worry about dex
2. IK set
Get a might merc for damage; maxing shout as a synergy for zerk, thought it won't help you, will make your merc almost immortal with a high def armor.

Wow.. seems like all of u are suggesting go w/o shield. I hv already started on this guy, he's now lv31. He will be using axe.. so axe mastery. Shield or no shield, let me think abt it :rolleyes:

I said base dex for several reasons. First off, dex is a lousy way to increase AR. There are too many items in the game that can be obtained that will boost your AR, and obtained for very cheap.
Second, Zerk has huge AR bonuses.
Third, if you are really having that many problems hitting things (which you shouldn't), use Battle Cry.
Fourth, less dex = more points to put into vitality.

I had lvl 92 zerker barb and he did very well with shield/sword. There is nice runewords like oath (in those days i had Grandfather) War crys are very helpfull. I would go in max block any day. 75% block really helps when dealing any bigger mobs. But warcrys help twohanders too.. but shield is for emercency situations^^

Ok i know the cheap way for getting AR is thur enchant charges which can be found in weapons. :) Thanks for the reminder...
I have decided to go with shield, despite all the advice :p Cos i have already poured points into DEX. Wont wan to waste them. Also with shield i can get some resist...

Sheilds are alright, assuming you're howling to get rid of the masses and simply hunting them down. I'd take a few points into Inc speed as well....Chasing some things down on foot is just plain annoying.
WarCry/Battlecry are your absolute best friends. Battlecry takes away 1/4th of their over all damage...Thats pretty sweet. WarCry stuns them if you get swamped. If you have a high level of it, you cast it once or twice and then go to town zerking for 3 seconds of impunity, then simply cast again.
Beserk with IK in HC = very stylish, i love the aura, and it is viable, but no fast killer.

I currently have a level 81 IK HC Zerker on EHCL. He does somewhere in the neighborhood of 4500-6000 dmg and kills pretty quickly.
I've found that Warcry is the most useful skill and worth investing some points in as its stun effect gives me enough time to kill each monster without risking getting hit during my attack. I haven't used howl very often (although I did put points into it for the synergy and its possible uses) and I use battlecry and taunt every so often.

My HC berseker died... :( All thks to stupid tppk, pker, in baal games :mad: Those s'holes.... So i had to remake him. Since in the prev posts so many suggest to go for no shield.... So its no shield this time. Also i hv not decided on weapon type, thus no pts into weapon mastery yet.
Edit: i used howl abit, but its tiring to go after them. My speed slow

Simple solution: howl to send them away, then taunt+zerk them one by one

Yes i need the GL to avoid those s'holes tppk, pkers. Eventually after all the acts, i need go baal run to lvl up fast for next difficulty.
I would recomend poleaxe, longest range ^^
Will the range help for berseker?? Cos he's a 1 on 1 guy.

Well I know from my bast Zerker barb he was a Axe shield barb and very hard to kill in hell. I havent played in awhile and dont know what trading is like but My guy had a low end Deaths and SS and could take damage really nicely. The key to a zerker is to max the DR and block so you dont take those hits. If you go 2 handed you would want full IK becuase of the set bonus's. Otherwise I would stick with a 1 handed weapon and try to get at least whistans for teh max block while you wait for a SS. BTW My damage with deaths with the 100% Crit I had was a max of 7-8K. I havent played in awhile but I remember it being around that.

For the ribcracker, staff... wat mastery is it?? Mace?? Cos its a blunt weapon.. Can someone comfirm me on that. Thks :)
