Hi there, does anyone know the actual ammount of damage those snakes can inflict, how the bug acts and how to counteract that damage?

Those guys can take down my "partybarb" which is a lvl 83 conc/BO/shout/sword barb. He has 90 all resist, 50% dr, and more than 4000 life. Only way to counteract that damage would be to have one hell of a cleric in party. I do have 8 or so defensive auras charms, so.... making that hell of a cleric is possible for me.

There is physical dmg (normal melee dmg IIRC) added to the cloud, which is then applied every frame to a player/hireling in that cloud. They're more lethal than Gloams, which is impressive.

Just out of interest: Is this about the vipers in Nilathak's lair ? I believe I encountered snakes (called tomb vipers ?) in the lowest level which were shooting poison clouds. I'm not 100% sure, however, because I rarely visit that place - only once per character, to be precise.

I don't visit this place much neither (alone), but because I'm hard core player and it's extremly unfair to make hell baal runs and loose a high char to unscrupulous players that use every sort of hack techniques just to kill you in the safety of town and others that use and abuse of other hacks to have a clear vision of the exits and monster packs/placement, me and my friends tend to make private hell games killing everything in every zone, including halls of vaught where you can see these animals.
We like to visit these places from time to time just to remember that this game is more than baal running, mephing, andarieling, cowing and so on...

I'm getting out of the main topic... the question was about the dmg bug and it's value in 4-5 player game. Anyone know where to find this info?

Vak,
I hope I'm not breaking any rules about mentioning another website, ( if I am, I formally apologize). There is a website called Darkness. It has a list of all Monsters in the game and I believe their damages, etc. It might cover any bugged attack but i'm unsure. You might look them up. You can find their link at the Diabloii.net website. I hope that helps.

Rule of thumb: if diabloii.net links to it, you can mention it here. Darkness is a nice starter point, but i believe it's horribly out of date. The best way to hunt this damage down would be in the text files. I haven't really messed with them, so I nominate someone else to go look.

Does this mean the damage is blockable, as normal melee damage?

It's blockable, but since it's applied every frame, you still won't survive long.

helvete

Ah.. blockable! That's why my barb (4k life, 90 all resist, 50% damage reduce, 75% block) can survive that much longer than my summoner's clay golem (~14k life).

Never thought that damage would be blockable, but now when I think about it, it actually sounds reasonable.

Carry antidotes.

The problem is that the physical/magic damage their bonespears do is carried onto the poison damage.

Hitting an Antidote will cure the poison and the damage. Be fast with it and juv fast cos you'll be dead otherwise.

Go careful, cos if you take 2 or 3 bonespears at the same time it's deeds.

U can actually hear the damage hitting you multiple times when that poison spear hits u. Theres another bugged viper, not many have met it or even know it exists, it is found in the pit of acheron and shoots Fire Spears (looks really impressive :) )

Even if it is bugged, it still won't be as bad as the poison spear. The fire spear missile has a next-delay of 4, so it's not very lethal. A short encounter with them in the NM Pit of Acheron (It's indeed a rarely visited place) showed me that their dmg is not that abnormal, only 3 - 5 times as much as it should. Same bug as Gloams.

This only proves the non-stop baal running people still do... only few know the different game locations...

I think many when asked "if he/she plays Diablo II" they will answer: "Diablo II??? Never heard of... oh I remeber, that game where I can do non-stop Baal runs!!!! Yes I play it."

Now answering the question... pit of archeron is here (http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/maps/act5.shtml).

Back when I misunderstood "The Pit areas" I used to go there all the time... I was so impressed when I heard some characters could clear that area (of course, they didn't misunderstand, as I did) in 5 minutes in a full game...

The things I fear the most down there are the amp damage witches, those who rain blood stars constantly, and are often physical immune as well... Combined with a boss or champion pack of minotaurs, it makes me run for the portal again...

What happens if these bad boys are revived?

RTB

They gain a damage bonus for being revived (Skeleton Mastery), so may even be able to kill a monster as revive. That's pretty rare.

I may be a bit behind beastiary-wise but this bug is kinda new to me

Revived frenzytaurs and bats (the lightning dmg ones) wipe the floor with anything pretty quickly.
