Which is better. I see people saying they're getting bored of WoW. Some guy said the dueling is just like on softcore in diablo. With guildwars nobody can wait until it comes out and it's coming out in march i think? So which should i get once my new comp is up considering the monthly fee for WoW and how it seems like a bigger brother of diablo.

I'm playing Guild Wars right now, and this game is unbelievable.
Buy it, thanks.

So is Guild Wars out now? I might have to try it out. I do have WoW and IMO it's amazing. I don't know how some people got bored of it, there's just sooooooo much to do.

Are there professions like mining etc in GW? How are the skills? Anybody have some information on it?

April 28th is the date listed on the site.
I'd complain, but it's probably for the best that it isn't actually coming out before final exams ^^

WoW is ok, it's like Diablo 2 except with better graphics. It didn't impress me all that much and I can't wait till Guild Wars comes out :).

I played in the February Beta Weekend Event. I was doing tombs for a bit when I saw someone yell, and the name was Stinger of TEB. So I played a bit with him.

Great game though, I suggest you check out www.gwonline.com. Each character can get around 150 skills. I'll tell more about it from my experiences later, I'm eating cheetos atm and its hard to type.

Time to catch the boat to Auberdine with your lvl 13!

The world is huge! You must create more characters and explore!

I recommend a Tauren shaman.

I tried the GW beta out when they opened it to the public for a week but honestly it gave me a massive headache and I didn't play much because of that. They may have fixed the perspective issues that caused it but I am too happy with WOW to check and see.

I have a lvl 25 (yes Baalos I am 25) Gnome Rogue named Cycy. She is an absolute blast!!! (see gnome pr0n avvie) I am taking down single beasts a level or 2 higher than me alone without much hassle but team me up with Hig's Dwarven Hunter and his pink raptor pet and you get piles of dead beasties! (well, there would be piles if Hig didn't skin them and make them disappear)

There is so much to do in WOW - you quest, you level your professions and skills - you explore and trade ... it's fun!!

Yes they do.
You see, poor nightelves start on a tiny island.
Every race has a starting area.
Creating new characters gives you an easy method to explore a lot more places (as well as the opportunity of twinkage).

Graphics don't effect me at all, I've never had a problem with game graphics though.

It'll probably hurt me in the end, I have 20/15 vision and it'll be shot to hell one day, just from playing 10 minutes of a game.

Poor Nightelves?

Stand-offish Nightelves if you ask me!

I have met a few nice friendly helpful ones but mostly they are snobby.

Do you know one actually had the nerve to lecture me tonight? I was hopping along (I rarely walk with my gnome - hopping seems faster) and saw about 4 small horde players having a rough time killing a really big bear. I watched for a while thinking they would triumph given time but when one of the undeads almost became really really dead I jumped in and helped kill the bear.

According to Mr Night Elf I have now ruined the entire game concept and should be shunned as a traitor. I tried to tell him that it wasn't a big deal etc etc ... he was most adament. So I bit him.

I also didn't like the questing system in WoW because it's pretty much the same quests over and over again. Either it's kill a certain amount of creatures or to retrieve some item(s). I liked the graphics, but other than that, the game didn't really impress me enough to pay 15 dollars a month for it.

Im Bloodscalp server and with my Dwarf, happily reading my questlog when i noticed that warrior quest will lead me to Kalimdor.. uh.. thats over seas.. oh well.. i was in harborcity anyway hehe. Cant remember the harbor city at kalimdor, but .. It came very soon clear to me that faster im back to my home island the better.. Everyone i Mean Really everyone was yelling.. red text in every moment. I hated it, so i started to head towards the stonetalon mountains for quest. When i stayed off the roads and used hills, i was pretty alone hehe. In the end i was died so many times that my axe had 2 durability left and i decided to try someday again, the last monsters were too tough when i was fighting them alone, Outcome was usually wich one hits last hit first and doesnt miss :D

So you're the traitor gnome they've all been talking about! I take it you're not on a nice lively PvP server then, Cy? Otherwise, your help would have been promptly met with a group pummeling, and or mebbe jus' the ol' sheep & ridicule ploy...

Anyway, having played this game for 1 week now, I'm not so sure I'm gonna keep payin' the server fee after the free month is up. Walk out of town, all ready to do your job as a wandering tauren shaman, and GANK. Some lvl 50 human rogue cheap shots you just to be a jerk (death to the cow murdering humans!). THink to self- hey, if wanted that kinda treatment, I could just hang out in East LA for a while, for free....may have to go back to Halo, at least there, you can see them coming.

Nebby, sounds like you need to switch to a PvE server. Has all the fun of PvP without the same amount of ganking. Plus if you don't want to fight, you can just make /chicken noises at them!

My lvl 20 troll warrior did his first instance last night with the help of Tecirca and friends. Too cool.

I agree with Baalos. Nebby, you should play on PvE servers. You can still do raids and pvp if you like. Just type /pvp to go into pvp mode. But only when you are ready! Much better than getting pked by higher lvls not-stop - where's the fun in that?

I'm still having heaps of fun with my chars.

Have a 24 dwarf hunter, 24 tauren druid, 22 human pally, 18 NE rogue, 14 tauren shaman, 13 orc warrior, not to mention a few other various characters. Have to try them all!
Druid is probably my favourite so far, with the hunter a close 2nd.

ya nebs, I need to 3rd what was said already about pve servers. Pvp servers simply suck. There is so much ganking it is retarded. when I l earned about raids and the battlegrounds that will be coming out, why on earth would anyone join a pvp server now? Organized raids are a blast and battlegrounds will be sweet too. Definately switch over before you call if quits casue you should find it much mroe refreshing

Eh.. I've played both.

World of Warcraft may seem like an amazing game when you come out of Diablo 2 (because it's an MMORPG, and it sounds like it's the first for many of you), but after you've played classics like Everquest, World of Warcraft is just a crummy rehash with updated graphics.

I've played during the beta test, I wasn't thrilled at all. The skills I got were uninteresting, and the skills characters had at lvl 32 uninteresting. The PvP in World of Warcraft, is senseless zerg rushing at each other. The missions were boring and came complete with spawn camping bosses (yay) as well as running 30 minutes to get to other areas.

Guild Wars brings something new to the name. PvP that depends on your personal player skill, not how much you spent at the auction house. You're almost always fighting with a team (ideally your guild) and you'll rarely find a character that can do a mission independently (one that contains monsters his level).

It's all about teamwork and skill in Guild Wars... If I had to give you a parallel... imagine Counter-Strike (teamplay, etc) mixed with Diablo 2 (seperated instanced missions) all on one giant server...,

If anyone has any questions, feel free to pm me or post in this thread I guess, I'm a big Guild Wars fanboy :) Also leader of a guild in closed alpha testing...

GW is Diablo3 done right, quite frankly.

I mean that in the best sense of the phrase mind you.

There's less down time, more action oriented, and won't cost you several hundred a year to play it. WoW was alright, and decent..but the quests are the main way to gain Exp...and the quests are all "find this and bring it here" or "kill x amount of x"....It got old, quickly.

The PvP was less than stellar based on the fact that it's again a rock paper scissors ideal...GW has it too, but it's compensated by ALWAYS being on a team.

Haven't been able to get on these forums for a while. All i know is that i'm getting CS: Source. It's my priority, secondly is Guild Wars. Seeing as i played CS 1.6 and Diablo II for a while this could be the next new combo! I ordered my new comp parts, should be here in a few days so i can finally have the requirements for guild wars. From what i see Guild Wars > WoW in too many ways...owned.

Yeah, I think I will have to abandon these two characters to swap over to a pve server, before giving up on the game. I guess in the front end I thought that it seemed too weird that there you'd be, a troll walking down the road and pass a bunch o' dwarf PCs and not be able to attack them.

On the whole, I think that WoW is well designed, with just a few balance issues that need to be sorted (e.g., am I the only one who thinks that rogues are WAY overdue for a beating with the nerf-stick?) and a few less than interesting aspects of the game (e.g., why not just name the warrior class "walking punching bags"?). I would like to try GW out sometime, I think that the aspect of massive team battles sounds more fun than some of the quests (WoW: what am I, errand boy?).

o.o

I would like to point out that rogues can't wear mail or high def armor till lvl 40 - we have no real ranged skills and way lower life than hunters for example (unless that is just gnome to dwarf differential) we can't heal or resurect and we also have to be just as close in as any warrior.

I think the skills you are primarily mad at are our sap and cheap shot which stun the opponent. In a pvp situation I can see your point but when you are 1 rogue dealing low dmg against several beasties you sap 1 cheap shot the other and pray you get enough damage into the rest before either of the first 2 wake up.

Of course no one ever thinks their chars should be nerfed :D

I could be wrong valar but I thought we could train into it at lvl 40 - like I can use a gun or cross bow through training etc.

I actually dual weild swords on my rogue which looks insanely funny because the swords are waaay too big for my little gnomeling.

Beta testings, but you need to "pre-order" meaning you pay $10 for a code key allowing you to participate in beta testing weekends and you get $10 off of GW when you buy it. If you haven't been paying attention to my past thread or the links/information provided by narc...

TheCerberus
26-02-2005, 21:15
If you want to try out GW for very cheap, get the pre-order. The most you'll have for it will be 10$, but some stores ask you to only put a small sum up for it. I can imagine it could be a dollar or so. If you like the game, which you probably will, the money you pay for the pre-order goes to your final purchase.

To me, Guild Wars has what every game hopes for. Balance in PvP. It's remarkable how even things are, and its not based on how one person stayed awake for 7 weeks straight to get to lvl 53 out of 60, but how good you are at the game.

Want to play PvP, but have a job preventing you from leveling a character to 20 (which is absolutely free of grinding, and fun at the same time)? Try a pre-made character. It has set skills and items, with restrictions so they aren't overpowered, but they allow you to experience PvP fully.

I can't wait til the next BWE, hopefully I'll have the pre-order by then.
