Hi to everybody,

I don't know why but every time i create a runeword belonging to v1.10 I received the unhandled exception (and start again :( )

Curiosly, I am able to MOVE the object as far as I am not seeing the characteristics (very strange).

Currently I get i item from inventory just to swap it for the runed item and put wherever I want (me or my merc). But I don't really know the final stats and every time by accident I point over the item, exception and start again! Very fustrating!

Any idea of what is going on? Is it a bug? Also it happens THE SAME with to different computers. And it also happens with 2 different accounts. I am puzzled!!!

There is a known bug involving non-english versions of the game crashing while trying to display the stats of items which grant auras. Sorry I can't help further with this, as I run the english version and have no problems, but others may be able to help you.

I have the german version, which has exactly the bug you described. It can be fixed with this (http://www.ingame.de/filebase/index.php?action=file&cid=325&fid=1467) file. Disclaimer: This is an unofficial patch, so it is not supported by Blizzard. Non the less, it works great for me, online as well as offline.

"Unhandled exception errors can be caused by a system configuration problem such as an ill-behaved device driver, a terminate-and-stay-resident (TSR) program, or a memory manager that is not configured correctly for the hardware in a particular machine."

What To Do
"Make backups of both the CONFIG.SYS and the AUTOEXEC.BAT files. Edit your CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files to remove all unnecessary device drivers and TSRs. You can typically get by with a CONFIG.SYS file that contains only a FILES= statement and a DEVICE=path\HIMEM.SYS. Depending on the hardware or configuration of a particular machine, other device drivers might be required. The AUTOEXEC.BAT file can contain a PATH statement and any required SET statements, but should not invoke any programs."

"After creating clean CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files, shut down and restart your system. Try running the development tool that generated the unhandled exception error from the MS-DOS prompt, without starting Windows or any other programs. If at this point the problem goes away, substitute items back into your CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files until you can isolate which device driver or TSR caused the problem. If the problem occurs under Windows but not MS-DOS, try cleaning out your SYSTEM.INI file. If the problem does not go away, you will want to consult the Microsoft knowledge base for other causes of the error."

I myself have never encountered this problem but just a few seconds of looking and thats what i came up with..

Only problem beeing: this is the solution for the wrong problem... The bug has nothing to do with the operation system, so it happens with WinXP (which has no underlaying DOS) and MacOS (which has no microsoft ;) ). As Oscuro said, it crashes the game when it tries to display the stats of items that grant "...aura when equipped" in some language versions, the most common is the german version. I showed a solution for the german windows version above in this thread, for the other affected version there is no patch I know of.

Thanks for all help!

Yes, I have checked it and ONLY with runewords with aureas the game crashes. I am using the spanish version. So sad there is no official patch for this, even I have tried to look on internet on several sites / forums.

I will try the suggested patch, even the solution can be a half spanish/german Diablo! Anyway, I can always reinstall.

I will let you know the end result ...

Hi again,

I have tried to download the file or get it from other sites (not posible). When I click it for download I get another utility, the "shadowmaster". Is there any other place where I can download this unofficial patch?

Thanks!

The download works for me. If you can't get the file, you can PM me your Email and I mail the file to you. But as I said, I tested the download and it worked just 5 minutes ago...
