meteor exp bug?

Last night I was doing some public baalruns with my meteorb sorc.
Someone asked me to stop spamming meteors, because there would be a exp bug with it.
The first time, I thought someone was trying to fool me, but in other games people asked the same. :scratch:

Is this a true bug (never heard or read about it though) or is it a hoax from people who have problems with their ping or something?

And if its true, how bad is it?

I've never heard of it, so I leaning more towards it being a hoax. Patch 1.10 has been out for ages now, and it if was a bug, chances are it would have been found by now. I wouldn't believe what most people say during baal runs :D

I also heard this rumor. But it is simple to falsify: Make a baalrun using meteors, look how much exp you got. Make another Baalrun, this time not using meteor. Look how much exp you got. You will see, it's pretty much the same (not exactly the same of course, because you most probably will have leveled in the meantime). So, this is just a hoax.
But funny enough, people do belive it, and the belive it even when you explain them they can see they get the same exp with or without meteors. The world is a crazy place :eek:

There is no meteor exp bug. So many bnet rumors left to crush...

The only possible explanation I can offer is that the person who gets the killing blow gets slightly more exp than the others in the party.
If the monsters die in a meteors fire then it would always be the sorc who gets the killing blow. The people don't want meteors because they want the kill bonus :)

I remember playing +90 lvl sorc in lvl restricted publics back in the times I played HC, and they always asked me to stop spamming meteors when doing Baal. Guess someone of them had high MF and wanted the killing blow. The high level doesn't affect drops, I think.

anyway no there is no exp. bug I myself have a Meteorb and I always cast meteor and once I only casted FO and I got the same ammo of exp. so it's the same

I was wearing annihilus and without meteor I got around 8 milion exp. Next game, sorc casted meteor and I got some 5 milion exp. That was proof for everyone that there is a meteor exp bug. Maybe just on hell, but I know that every time i go baalrunning players are against meteor.

I would bet money that the sorc got more exp when she was using meteor that when she wasn't as she was getting the final kill bonuses.

I would imagine casting Frozen Orb, or having a skelemancer around would cause just as much lag as a sorc with meteor.

Overall, I would just recommend that you don't listen to what a majority of people say during a baal run. It's bad enough that people complain about other people leeching off experience by sitting back and doing nothing, and now they want meteor sorc's to actually stop and do nothing.

Besides, baal runs are usually over with pretty fast. Let the meteor sorc cast her meteors. It doesn't matter if your system lags up abit (might want to run the game on DirectDraw, and take down the lighting or some video settings then).

OK, we do not understand each other. I've done Hell baal runs in party with all popular character build, including summoner necromancer, frozen orb and blizzard sorc, and the one that alwas gets almost all the kills - hammerdin.

I've done hundreds of them in building my high characters and any complaints ever came for meteor. Never for exp leeching. Complaints about people dong nothing usually come in normal on early nightmare runs, when parties are weak and need all the help they can get.

In high baal runs, usual picture is that hammerdin is spinning hammers and sorc is blizzardin, while all the rest w8 for exp and do nothing to prevent lagging.

Anyways, I was convinced that there is a bug, at least on hell 8 baalruns wich i tested, but thanks to these posts I decided to test it my self again, this time from other side.

So now I'm building meteor sorc. :cool:
