Thought I saw a reference to a calculator or guide somewhere that was good for finding the most ideal MR running locations for specific items. Anybody know where that is? I couldn't remember what it was called so I had trouble searching for it.

It is hard to imagine such a thing. There are so many variables involved, and the difference between the best 20+ places you can look for most things is usually so small as to not make a difference.

Was it for individual monsters and specific unique/set items?
Or area levels and charm affixes?
Such things exist. They aren't always very accurate and are typically a bit misleading, but they exist.

I found it. It's that ATMA muling program for single player. It gives ideal drops for all items. There may be variables it doesn't take into account, but it still seems pretty useful. I didn't realize that the spider and flayer forests were so useful for hunting down socketables. Odds look better there for a lot of the popular stuff than Hell cows does and it doesn't take nearly as long to kill all the hordes fetishi and flayers.

flayer jungle is good area for killing a lot in good time but i find the pit in act 1 to be the mf area of choic, it easy to get to and you can find almost every time in the area and also find good socketables

Ah. Well, two things.
Indeed what I meant by "many variables" is that just because one monster has the best chance to drop an item, doesn't mean it is the best to run. If Hell Baal had a 0.002 chance to drop some item and Normal Quill Rats had a 0.001 chance, I think you can work out which is better to run.
Still, if you have a char that can kill all things equally fast, Atma is a good way to go.

The other thing I should mention is that there is a bug in the version of Atma you have (it's been fixed but not uploaded (still :p ;))) which doubles the drop chances for all Flayers and Returned Mages. So remember to halve those in your calculations. Makes the Cows look better, yes?
