View Full Version : summon/xxxx hybrid help
I basically have RS and SM maxed right now. I have 1 pt in all curses, 1 in all other summons and 1 in teeth, CE, BA, and BW. Currently clvl68 with 13 pts unused doing nm baals. I'm using decent gear, basically elite uniques but no high runewords. Merc is a might merc using obedience with skellies at about mid 35 +/- 2.
Now here is the problem, it looks like I have enough real pts to max 2 more skills (clvl91+4quests for 40pts) and I'm a bit torn between maxing PN and PE using 3 piece tranq or maxing BW and BS (yes on marrows). Just wondering which path (BS or poison) will allow me to a) kill faster in hell b) mf better

Poison would probally be the best way to go since having "tanks" in your skeletons and golem make spaming novas easier.(Not to mention they create bodies for Poison Explosion)
Since you have Marrowwalks then you might be tempted to go down the bone road.(Same thing aplies with your skeletons "tanking" you)
I think you should just see what you're having problems with and then decide which road to travel (Pure summoner , Bone , Poison)
IMO I think poison is a faster killer, and easier mfer.

The thing is if I max bone, gearwise, only boots are tied down, and i get 20 BW to go towards BA, plus slvl20 BSpe only costs under 10 per cast deals 1k magic dmg and pierces.
As where if I were to max only PE and PN (no PD synergy), PN only does 1k over 2 secs. Now this is discounting the +/- 25 res from gear (not sure how this works, could someone be kind enough to show me the number crunching?). But this means no 20pts in BW and 3 gear slots tied up (less MF).
I'll probably end up using tranq belt and gloves for a while anyway since the mods and partial bonuses are pretty nice. I guess the story would be a little different if I could afford a Death's Web, but right now I'm leaning ever-so-slightly towards bone.
Comments? Thoughts? Enlightenment?

All monsters have resistances.Take for example one with 25 poison res.
You Nova have 2k by 2 sec aka 1k by sec.
since he have 25 res he will take 75% of thet dmg.thet 750 dmg by sec.
- 25 res from gear will reduce his res. by 25 in this case he will have 0
res so it will take full dmg. 1000 per sec.
Lets take one with 0 base res for example. He will have -25 to res so it will take 1250 dmg per sec.
most monsters have in hell 30-50 pr.
and there are cap of -100 to each res.

you have 1k by sec nova. with 25 to poison skill dmg U will have 1250 nova. It icrease your dmg.Also I noticed and still testing but it seems thet
-res from gear increase poison duration by some time but dont wory about thet.
I'm not sure if it was you who did the test but in the FAQ thingy, I think it says that the time only increases if they get -res so with hell 30-50% and my -25%, I probably won't have a problem.
But still, which should i go with to support my skellies, Bone or Poison?
Bone seems like a good, focused, spam spell that's unblockable (and would allow me to carry more MF); yet poison is more of an AOE spell and stops regen in hell.

U'r bone dmg seems to be very low not enough...
poison will stop monsters regen but thet can be done with Prevent mosnsters heal and its AOE and has 2 synargys it will do some dmg.
i only have enough points for 2/3 skill blocks (40pts), will it still be enough?

Both the builds are very viable. If you take a look at our [ Essential Necromancer Information ] (http://www.rpgforums.net/showthread.php?t=232935) sticky you will find the guides to both hybrids.
Normally the Poison hybrid has a maxed Nova and maxed synergies. This is to get the most out of the Poison aspect. This build is normally made when people have good gear.
You can make a successful Poison hybrid by concentrating on Skellies. The Skellies will be your main source of damage while the Poison will help them out. With the right gear the Poison aspect can do some serious damage. This build is usually made when people are untwinked. You max Nova and one of the synergies.
The Bone hybrid normally incorporates maxed RS and SM. Then Spirit is maxed along with another synergy and Marrowwalk is used.
All the hybrids are very viable. It depends on personal preference what you find most fun to play with. I enjoy poison more than I do Bone attack, so for the Poison hybrid is the best choice. If you enjoy Bone attacks then choose the Bone hybrid.
Don't forget, Poison Nova is a nice multi-target attack skill, where as Bone Spirit is not (Bone Spear can pierce multiple targets, but they have to be lined up).
In addition, Poison Nova is easier on your mana consumption, as you only really need to spam it every 2 seconds or so. Going the bone route will require a much larger mana base (or equip your merc with Insight).
I've played both a full-on Summoner with max CE, skellies and a Novamancer. I find the Novamancer more fun to play, and it seems that he kills faster. With the summoner all I do is amp, wait, CE, CE, CE, repeat. Gets a tad tedious after awhile. Having said that, he's my only char with maxed resists and ~380MF in Hell. The Novamancer is more fun though, as there's slightly more things to do / going on with him. Not as much MF or resists, but I do decently...
If you're thinking about going Novamancer route, try to get a Death's Web. The amount of poison damage you can do will increase *significantly*. It's expensive, but it's worth it.
Went poison this time, trying to get gear and stuff and hoping it'll turn out well. I guess I'll know at about clvl high 80s. BTW anyone got 3 piece trang (shield, belt, gloves) FT plz PM me. Just slightly too lazy to look through all those trade threads :D .
