hi,
I have a question to people who are familiair with 200% fcr sorcs.
I am creating a 200% fcr Fb sorc and i would like to know how much mana is sufficient, I imagine teleporting and shooting Fballs that quick burns mana fast.(I will not use mana pots)
I would also like to know what I could do best with my spare points, put them in warmth seems nice, a very cheap teleport looks nice to, what do you think is better? (I will reach about lvl 90).
Any help will be appreciated.

If you plan on tele'ing around alot put points into teleport. There was a good guide somewhere that explained how a slvl 17 teleport as well as one point into warmth (with + to fire skills of course) would actually regen mana for you. If you plan on standing still Spamming Fball then put the points into warmth.

I would say warmth as with a spammable skill you will more than likley be standing still a fair chunk more than you will be tele'ing around... just personal expirence from Pubby duels.

i believe it is a lvl 24 teleport gives you a one mana teleport. the math is simple:

if you are constantly teleporting and have a 15 mana teleport, that is 25 frames per second with 8-9 frame casting. which rougly is 45 mana used per second. so that is how much you have to regen if you have a lvl 10 teleport to not lose mana.

if you have a 1 mana teleport, that is 3 mana per second. so ya, you will gain mana.

the actual post that said that is old school. it might even have been in a previous encarnation of this forum.

i would dig a bit deeper into regen rates and max mana and how they relate to it, but i have to go to class.

<side note, Hey Mathil havn't seen you in a long time... I just got back from a year's plus hiatus>

I tried searching thru, but I couldn't find anything on the tele/warmth... if I find the time tonight I'll do up the calculations for you tho.
What gear are you planning on using exactly?
Final note, have you thought about going LIT tree? You could save alot of points by having the light skillers (wich will make tele cheaper to cast right there). Then you could also have esheild and telekenisis at a decent level... the only problem then is what skills to use as your killer

Since teleport and Fireball are both non timered spells you will only be able to cast 1 or the other at 1 time. I will assume a +15 to fire skills. This means that you will be casting level 35 Fireball at a cost of 22 per cast. Level 3 teleport costs 22 so if any of those + to fire skills are + 2 all skills 1 is all you will need in teleport to reach level 3. This means that whether you cast fireball or teleport is costs the same. 200 FCR gives you a cast rate of 7 frames. 7 frames is 3.5 casts per second which yeilds a mana cost of 77 mana per second.

Now the formula for mana regeneration per second is:

25 * [[256 * max_mana / (25 * 120)] * (100 + %Mana Regeneration) / 100] / 256

with 1k mana and warmth at level 35 (438% mana regen) that's:

25*[[256*1000/(25*120)]*(100+%mana regen)/100]/256

44 mana regained per second. Not nearly enough to regen all the mana that you will use. To get where you want to be lets look at a couple of other options.

With this gear to reach 200 FCR:

Hat - Circlet 2 skills 20 FCR
Ammy - Crafted caster 1 skill 10 FCR 10 mana regen
Weapon - +3 skills Eschutas
Armor - Viper Magi
Shield - Perfect FCR Spirit
Ring 1 - Crafted 10 FCR with other good mods 10 mana regen
Belt - Arachnids
Ring 2 - Crafted 10 FCR with other good mods 10 mana regen
Gloves - Magefists
Boots - Silk weave/eth Sandstorms

The crafted ammy will give us 10% more mana regen
The 2 crafted rings will give us another 20% more mana regen
Mage fists will give us another +25% mana regen

That gives us - 49 mana regained per second... still not enough.

To get to 77 mana regained per second you need the above gear and a 1560 point mana pool.

If you have the above gear and an Act 2 Merc with perfect insight weapon (level 17 meditation) [+700% mana regen!!!] you can get 77 mana regained per second with a 715 point mana pool.

Forgive me, but don't you need at least 15%fcr crafted amulet to reach the 200%fcr breakpoint? I've made my calculations, and those might be wrong, but I think that without using Wizzard Spike you need 15%fcr on ammy...

You are absolutely right. You can get up to 20 FCR with a crafted caster amulet so the way to go to obtain 200 FCR would be a 15 FCR caster amulet rather than a 10 and hope that you get one that has + to sorc skills.

I would get a slvl35 warmth (438% mana reg.)+25% mana reg. (magefists) +6% mana reg. (amu)=469% mana reg.
-fire ball slvl40 costs 24.5 mana (burns 24.5*3.4=84 mana per sec.)
with a mana pool of 1.5k i will lose 84-71.125=12.9 mana per sec.
-teleport slvl10 costs 15 mana (burns 15*3.4=51 mana per sec.)
with a mana pool of 1.5k i will gain 71.125-51=20.125 mana per sec.
fire bolt slvl40 costs 2.5 mana (burns 2.5*3.4=8.5 mana per sec.)with a mana pool of 1.5k i will gain 71.125-8.5=68.625 mana per sec.

if i would constantly shoot Fballs then i would be out of mana in 1500/12.9=116 seconds, thats almost 2 minutes. when i would be out of mana and started shooting Fbolts my mana would be full again in 1500/68.625=22 seconds :surprise: ,when teleporting it would take 1500/20.125=71 seconds to refill my mana, thats not viable but i could still gain mana.
i think 1.5k mana is good enough, i even think i will take less mana. A duel with a 200% fcr Fball sorc will not take more than 2 minutes i think (am i right?), if a duel would take longer i could switch to Fbolt and teleport and within a short time i would have plenty of mana again!
Please correct me if i am wrong on my calculations.

I will post up the stats of my sorc, she works very well and has ES/FB/200FCR.
