Are orbs worthless?

I just found a very nice 2 socketed demon heart. But it's not as nice as my basic occy unless theres a RW for it, and I can't locate one.

What do you sorc's do with these supposed elite orbs?

I found the demon heart with:

2 socks
+20 mana
+1 chilling armor
+2 cold mastery
+2 thunder storm


I mean if theres a RW out there that can enhance this orb, I'd be able to ditch my occy.

My sorc is cold and lightning, not too mention I run out of mana a bit too much, so I thought this was a great find. Unfortunately it doesnt seem to be.

Sorry but that is about all they are worth.

I did find once a long time ago a jareds stone that had some sick mods but even then paled to Occy or Full Tals.

If you dont have enough to get an occy. Try to get a Tals Orb which are really really cheap. Also rare orbs can spawn with some awesome mods.

There are no runewords for orbs.

Certain orbs with 2 sockets are used by single tree sorcs, though they basically need to have very useful skills on them. For example something like +2 fire mastery +3 fireball or +3 enchant. Together with 2x fire facets, that orb can then be very useful for Enchant prebuff or with Fireball on it for an FB Sorc.

Need to be very lucky to get the right orb though. Otherwise the usual uniques fill in like Oculus, Eschuta's Temper, Death's Fathom.

Also, you *might* find orbs or staves with useful skills for prebuffing. That is, some skills that you only use before engaging combat like estatic shield, cold armor, thunderstorm... The right combination (and me is no expert, so cannot give directions) can be worth as much as a highrune (if you find the right buyer too, of course ;) )
