Hi,

I'm kinda curious what the value of the following baby is.

It's a 6 socketed Crystal Sword with 6x IST in it. :D
(In my opinion a great mf item for a Sorc for example)

well i would say the obvious and say its a vex + gul the simple tramsute up of what u have but latley i see ppl trading 5 or 6 ist runes for ber runes and probably just for the same reason to make a good mf weapon for a sorc or nec ect. so depending on who u trade with u could get as hi as a ber but i would question if its a dupe or not most likley it is but if that dont bother u hey more power to ya

I doubt you get much over GUL for it. The reason that a BER is worth 5-6 ISTs is that those ISTs could be used individually to trade for other items or in runewords. The fact that these have been used kills the value drastically.

Thanks for the replies.

I wanted to know if it would get me a ber or jah for my wannabe Enigma armor. (Have the armor need the runes)

But would it be better to use the ists in a Ali baba for example?
I made the sword already for my mf sorc and I'm thinking of making another mf weapon for me pally. Which would advice.
(Without looking at the total amount of ists.)

6 ISTS in a crystal sword for MF is a complete and utter waste. A dual isted ali baba, on a lvl 85 mf'er (most are around this level or higher), would yield 85+60 = 145 MF, as opposed to 180 on a 6 isted crystal, but for MUCH less cost. Also, baba gives 5-15 dex, which helps keep the blocking up on a MF shield. And it also has goldfind, too... Is the 35 extra MF really that important to you? You must really have runes to burn if you made a 6 IST crystal...

It's not that I have runes to burn, it's just that I wanted an MF sorc with 700+ mf running around and killing things.
And with this sword I made it.

I know it's a waste of the runes. But now I have 1 char with a lot of mf. Which truly helps when trying to find some nice stuff.
For example I already found 2 shako's while having the sword.
And of course some other nice items. Going to make a nice trade thread soon.

It's been shown that MF has diminishing returns... all it comes down to in the end is personal luck, not how much MF you have.

Nick even with diminishing returns if I have 7xxmf and you have 3xx and we do the same number of runs, and eventhough the actual amount applied to better chance of uniques is *I'm guessing here* 70% better for that 400 more mf, and we do the same amout of runs I will find better stuff according to statistics as I have a 70% better chance at my items to be uniuqe. That is why some people like me and others have one char that is utterly decked out in mf gear, although I agree with most here that an ali > 6 ist weapon, now rhyme compared to a 4 ist monarch is all dependent on how crazy you are for that extra 3% :lol:

It's true, you are more likely to find a unique item, my point was that extra 35 mf from a 6 isted crystal as opposed to a dual isted baba isn't going to make much of a difference.

I don't know. I am pretty convinced that MF does not work as advertised, though it may only work backwards for me. I have a guy with 69x mf.. and all he manages to find with any consistency are gheed's.... While my little guys with 1xx and 3xx mf's respectively seem to find loads of goodies.

Anyway, just felt an urge to type something.

Well since I found enough items to fully equip my main chars I think it does matter the more mf the more items. (at least it does for me)

All my char's have pretty decent gear on them right now. For example
My lvl 67 Hammerdin now has the following

Shako (found it yesterday)
Gaurdian Angel
Wizardspike
Herald of Zakarum (found it yesterday)
Sandstorm Trek (found it yesterday)
Chance Guards 38%
Verdungo's
Raven Frost (found it the day before yesterday)
Dwarf Star (found it the day before yesterday)
Seraph's Hymn 2/2 (found it yesterday)

So you won't hear me complaining about anything. :D
