...since the ancients quest require lvl 20? I've seen lvl 1 characters enter hell games this weekend, as I've played on battle.net for the first time since 1.09

You are correct; you need to be level 20/40/60 to do the Ancients quest.

So, whenever I rush a mule, I just skip the Ancients. It's not like they are mandatory or anything.

Oh, but they ARE mandatory in 1.10, unless you know some specific tricks to get around them...

Ancients is mandatory for entering the WSK. But you don't have to enter the WSK to get credit for killing Baal, for that, you just need to be partied with someone who has not yet done the quest when s/he kills Baal.

it's called a glitch rush ppl who run some kind of bot or something require this rush so that they can enter hell games and advertise the website they are associated with , for this they make a game called baal for quest party with players coming in and get the quest

There is a glitch that you can get to hell at lv 2 or higher. You find someone who needs the baal quest in norm/nm and you get a friend to kill baal with that guy who needs the quest while you stay in act 5. Then after they kill baal you get the quest and can move on to the next mode (nm/hell). Repeat until you get to hell and do hell chaos until lv 58. Then do nm ancients and hell ancients after each other and enter hell baal at lv 60.

You don't need to be lvl 2 and it's not a glitch or for botting. I do it to get mules to hell diff. Like I said, you do not have to be inside the Throne of Destruction to get credit for killing Baal (which moves you into the next difficulty); you just need to in Act 5 in town, and grouped with someone who has not yet killed Baal who is inside the Throne when Baal is killed in a game where the quest is open. (A complicated way to say it maybe.)

Can you get exp in Chaos Sanctuary at clvl 1 or 2??? Wow! Would that be faster than leveling "normally"? (as in act1 -> canyon -> cows -> baalruns)?

Anyway, this means you can't hellforge any faster just 2 players (me and my friend with a cross-cable LAN connection).... However, with 8 players, you _could_ have one character levelling to 20 (or 25 maybe), then leech him and 6 clvl 1 mules to NM hellforge, level the last levels to 39, get the mules again, and do ancients, then baal, and then have seven hellforge quests? I picture this whole thing would take about 2 hours (say I leech with an enchantress, and the poor guy who has to level gets lvl 36 enchant to start off with).

Hmm... I think I need a hellforge clan when I decide to play on the realms again!

Another way is to rush through classic Diablo 2, where there is no act 5. I use this on my mules, then convert them to expansion chars. This is also useful to speed up rune collecting by allowing you to do numerous hellforges in a short amount of time.

INGENIOUS!!! This way only one friend (cross cable connection) is required, and MUCH less time!

when you convert you chars from classic to expansion they can only start in normal because they need baal quest (that is what I have experienced with my mules)

Not true. You can start off in hell diff by converting. You just get sent back an Act or two when you convert is all. If you get to Act 4 hell diff in classic and then convert, you should be in Act 2 hell diff expansion.

does this work in a2 or do you need to get the viper ammy?

only diff between classic and LOD is act5, so yes you still need act2 quest

act2 is the same thing, if you are in a game where the ammy and staff is already taken, and you cant enter arcane or do arcane, or arcane is done as well, just join the party and wait, wait till they finish killing duriel, and you will get the quest as well.

You must complete 10 Acts in Classic to qualify for creating Hell Games in Expansion. Therefore, you must complete Act 2 prior to converting your Mule. He will start in Act 3 (the Kurast Docks - assuming you "Sailed East" before leaving the Classic rush game).

As a certain character from "lethal weapon 4" would have put it: Vely vely intelesting!
That's sort of a bad thing (that you have to complete act II) because act II is the "pain-in-the-butt-even-when-rushing" act. Well, I assume it beats leveling to 40 and do it the expansion route.

...now i have to start a sorc from scratch in SP... urk!!
