View Full Version : Should my Skelliemancer get off his butt and get a job?

Right now I feel so lazy just standing around watching my minions kill everything. Sometimes I fire off some worthless Teeth so I can feel like I'm helping. I usually do a lot of CE/Revive, but I have to wait for my skellies to kill stuff first. I am abusing Marrowwalks (sorry honorable gents, I couldn't pass it up), and I just realized that due to the synergies, I could have a semi-decent Bone Spear or Spirit with a single point in each. Each skill is raised to 8 through equipment, which means my Bone Spear would do a max of 202 and Spirit would do a max of 338, as much as my skellies do now. Would it be worth 2 points to have these skills? My skill points actually don't matter much anymore, as the core skills are maxed except for CE. I know it's my decision, but would you guys do it, even just for the heck of it?

You are forgetting that your warrior damage is boosted by the Might aura from the merc and your amp damage curse. Bone spells receive no benefit. Typically people also have more than one skeleton.
A 300-something spell is ridiculous, IMHO.
I do believe that a maxed bonespiirit along with Marrowwalks could be a somewhat useful backup vs. hard immunes, though.
EDIT: deoending on the map, I'm quite busy opening chests and stuff while my guys are still busy cleaning up the trash. For act bosses I do usually spend all my mana on firewalls --- but even though they do something like 1200 or 1300 (don't remember) fire damage per second and I can have 2-3 of them going at the same time it's not making that much of a difference.

If you want a bit of the action you can go and max Pdagger. Then just equip a Venom dagger and you will have a decent poison attack.
I wouldn’t use those bone attacks. The damage is just too low. It will only serve to annoy you.

Fleshripper would be a decent dagger to use, it would be effective even without the other two poison skills maxed. I had a venomancer that used a 'ripper, and then I realized that the "venomancer" part kinda lost effect because I was acting more like a barb than a "hit and run" style daggermancer. Go go amp and lifetap!

Alright, I think I'll just forget about it. I'm using the Arm, and a dagger would lose me a lot of extra killing power. I'll just max Mages and CE, and put my last few in Revive.

I had this same problem when I was considering my first Nec after the 1.10 patch...my play style isn't so much about letting minions play the game for me...
So I opted for the Bonemancer/Summons hybrid. The emphasis is on the bone skills, with MarrowWalks giving them a nice boost, some curses and the rest in Skele and Mastery. With this, I have a mid-sized pack of buffed skeles, a Golem, Merc and curses to help them out. As for my Nec, he gets to play heavy artillery with Bonespears and Spirits lending support fire, and the occasional CE to silence the opposition...
It's a very effective combo, and the best of both worlds...
You could also try the Nova/Summons build...I'm testing one out in SP, and it's just killer...

If you haven't maxed Mages and CE yet, you can still go Bone/Summon hybrid. If you have maxed either one of those then don't try to make a hybrid.
You can always have the Dagger on switch. If you summon the army with AoKL and then switch to a Dagger you will loose 1 Skellie, but the remaining Skellies will have the higher stats.
get a beast, switch to a bear and go crazy. the added fana aura is good times also
