Need advice from experienced CB sorc

Hi all!
Well, I have a little question about synergies and charged bolt. I did some calculating on the cb and its synergies and the numbers I got seems to be wrong somehow, or someone else is seriously wrong. Let me explain what Im talking about.

I read in Lira Lindrie's cb sorc guide that cb had the potential for about 500 dmg per bolt and about 35000 (or something like that) in total dmg, and I cannot figure out how that whould be possible. According to my calculations CB should do (at lv30, with lv 30 LM & lv 20 lightning) about 160 per bolt dmg. As synergies wont benefit from +to skills items it wont go beyond lv 20. So my question is this. How is it possible to make a CB with 500 per bolt dmg? How are the synergies added and are my calc total crap?

Hi i have a lightening sorc, and she does 680dmg cb, kills clone in around 15seconds (no exaggeration). She has +15all skills including anni and cta, and 5 light gcs.. she uses:
Spirit monarch
Griffon eye
2Xsoj
Arach Mesh
20%light escutas
COH
cta/lidless on swich

with 2 more light gc she does 790 cb dmg

Then the problem must be in my calculation, I will keep working on it. I must have misunderstood the way synergies work.

Ok, now I have checked my calculations and they are still not making any sense. This is how I do the calculations:

CB should at lv 35 do a maximum dmg of 31 (assuming the dmg rises with one per lv after lv 20. LM at lv 35 adds another 458% dmg making the max per bolt dmg 31*5,58=178,98. After that we add another 120% dmg from lv20 lightning. We now have 178,98*2,1=363,258.

See what I meen? No matter how I do I never get anywere near the magic 500 per bolt dmg.What am I doing wrong?

I have allso tried to simply add all extra % on top of the base dmg like this:
120% + 458% = 578% extra dmg
base dmg 31*6,78=210,18
But that didn't help ither, it just made matters worse.

Exactly how are synergies added? Can anyone help me plz?

I can't get on to check the skill dmgs of CB or anything, but I know that my sorc deals over 1k dmg per bolt, plus the extra dmg from -res. That is about the highest it will go, nothing much higher than 1100 can be reached.

Chippydip's calc gives 497 max at level 35.
one thing is that CB damage at level 35 is 38-40.
here's what i tried:
start with max damage of lvl 35 CB = 40. If I do synergy first I'm getting 20 * 6% = 1.2 now this is added damage so we take 2.2 * 40 = 88. Now I do the mastery effect and 88 * 5.58 = 491.04

do be aware that things like facets with +% damage will add even more.

WEll i dont bother wih calculations.. whenever i wanna find something out i use d2items.com skill calculator (tho i wudnvr buy nethin offa site) it works pretty well

This really helps, I will keep calculating on this. Now I at least know for sure that there is possible with 500+ CB and that it wasn't just a typo in the guide.

I'm also pretty sure my lightning sorc did over 1k damage per bolt too.

Synergies are added BEFORE masteries. Here you ahve the complete damage formula:

damage = base damage * (1+synergy%) * (1+mastery%) * (1-(monsterres%-negative resistances sources%)

And +xx% damage from items is just added to the mastery% before calculation. As synergies are applied before masteries masteries get alot more powerful and they also benefit from +skills, like CB itself. The fact that synergies dont get boosted with +skills is true though.

Also the base damage of CB grows in a bit larger steps after lvl 20.

Adding sources with -xx% lightning resistance will boost the damage even more.

The "absolute maximum" CB damage (without facets and ormus 15%) would be 1262 - 1295 with total skill lvl of 54. BO and Skill shrine are included. The +40% lightning damage from facets socketed in +3 lite circlet and in the +3 lite skills, +3CB, +3Mastery Orb, And +3 Ormus are not calculated in the damage above.. (would be around 1350 dam average per bolt)
