Has anyone tried this build?

Hello all,

Has any of you ever made succesfully a Fireball/Nova sorceress? With the following (gear and) skills it might be really fun to try out:

Skills:

Fire tree:
Warmth 1
Inferno 1
Blaze 1
Firewall 1
Fireball 20
Meteor 20
Mastey 1
Fire Bolt 10+

Lightning tree:
Telekinesis 1
Teleport 1
Static 1
Nova 20
Mastery 20

Cold tree:
Frozen Armor 1

Points used: 99 (With 10 points in Fire Bolt)

Items: (Pretty much the items I'd use if I could pick from all)

Mang Song's with -15% in lightning and fire, fire faceted.
Griffon with -20% ligtning, fire faceted.
Skin of the Vipermagi with Um or 15% res all jewel.
Good crafted gloves with resists etc.
Arachnid
2x Soj, or Soj and Bk.
30% Mara's.
Good rare resist boots with fhr.

An alternative would be CoH+Caster ammy with at least 10 fcr+Magefists.

Now the +skills would be +12 all. -% To enemy resistances would be Lightning -35 and Fire -25. Resist all in hell would be without the boots and gloves, only 10% res all.

With 20% Anni plus 3x 15% res all gc's all resists would be maxed in hell. (Whew, really expensive..) Partial Tal set build would be great as well, similarily faceted..

With this build, without any skillers but with Annihilus, Fireball damage would be around 5K and Nova damge about 1,5K average.

My mercenary of choice would be Insighted act2 merc, unless the player has enough mana and wealth to use Infinity-merc.

I don't know will I have time to make one, but it would be nice to see if any of you has tried this or similar build.. any suggestions or experiences?

Nova is uesless unless you go 100% lightning and go hardcore nova.

What you want to do is either max Meteor or FB, and then max FM instead of the other. You'll do more dam that way. I advise Meteor for more fun, since you can meteor near monster, tele into the mob, nova like hell (hopefully you'll dish out enough dam for them to be shocked or stunned), wait till Meteor rains down. I think FB will be more effective though...

BK ring is USELESS for a sorc of your type.

O your gonna wear Mang Song...? I thought you were block... Staff nova sorcs have a hard time living in hell because you need to get close to your enemies... Oh well... good luck... lol

Btw your resi is still too low in PvM in hell...

Overall, not a great nor good nor effecive nor viable PvM hell build, but it works.

Nova is an "up close and personal" kind of spell, you need block, well it would help alot, maybe not need. The dmg is kindof lacking, and it needs to be cast very fast. Lightning would be the ideal "fast casting" element, due to griffs, though with nova you need to go full nova. With points in mastery, lightning, nova, and alot of +skills. It is also very very mana dependent, so ES may be a good choice to pair it with due to the +lightning as well... either way.

I don't think the build has much potential. Possible, though underpowered.

What you want to do is either max Meteor or FB, and then max FM instead of the other. You'll do more dam that way.

You will do more damage that way... but there is a way of getting even more damage, if you know the amount of +skill gear you will eventually have. When both Meteor and FBall are maxed, the best way to spend remaining skill points is usually a mix of synergy and mastery, the exact mix depending on the amount of +skill you have. It's also better to optimise Fireball rather than Meteor. The damage loss for Meteor, as a percentage of its total damage, is pretty negligible so it's better to squeeze a few hundred more damage for a rapid firing Fireball instead.

Yeah, staves seem to be a bit too dangerous for nova sorcs. Although a friend played his Nova / Fireball sorceress to lvl 98. It seemed to work.
