View Full Version : "2 High Runes 4 Nigma": Is this for real?

Hi.. again. I've been gaining up my wealth and finally found my first ist rune, and traded it for a jah! Since I'm browsing through hell games, i've seen a couple of games saying "2 Hi 4 Nigma" "Nigma 4 2 Hi". Is this for real?!?? That means I'm halfway getting myself an enigma. Note that this is USWest, NL.'

And since this is on the topic of runes, I have two lum runes (+10 energy). They seem to be useless and no one wants them. Any ideas what I should do with them?

first off.. u probably traded ur ist rune for a duped jah rune.. so it will maybe dissappear within a few hours or days.

the enigmas that u see online might not be nonlegit as in the runes that were used were duped.. so once u trade for it.. some of the runes might dissapear in it (i.e. the armor becomes jahith and the ber rune is gone)

trading on these forums are ur best bet

I don't know about the prices on UsWest, but an Enigma is, after all, made up of two high runes. Therefore, it should make some sense that it's only worth that much. This is unless it's made in a very good/hard to find armor, and can cost a bit extra in that case.

well i hope the jah doesn't dissappear... that would suck. it hasn't yet but..

what about the +10 energy runes? (lum i think). Do you think I'll be able to trade a jah, 2 lums, and a pul rune for an enigma?

Runes will not disappear once they are put into runewords. Most duped runewords have 1 last rune missing which you place in last so it doesn't disappear. I was given two beserker axes with vex hel el eld zod already placed in them, and he gave me two iths to stick in it. I got my runewords and they'll never disappear.

Unless the person is relaly desperate for those runes, or it's a really crappy enigma, or you otherwise get extremely lucky, it's not likely.

I don't see how trading on these forums are much better with regard to runes? They're all mostly duped anyway so unless a forumer states that it is SELF FOUND, I'm not sure it makes any difference?

If the forumer traded for the rune on bnet, or with a friend's friend's friend's friend, then its as good as duped considering the frequency a high rune should drop at.

Anyway, like the other dude said, an enigma is Jah Ith Ber, two high runes, it makes sense that the enigma goes for something around that price, if the armour is good. If the armour is not good, then it should go for below 2 highs.

There's no way to perm a duped rune. The rune will disappear, and the runeword. If your two beserker axes don't disappear, then it's because the runes weren't duped.

Pff there's always two opinions:
- duped runes can ALWAYS disappear, even if they're socketed
- duped runes don't disappear if you socket them
Can't someone get the rumours out of the air once and for all?

(I've seen more discussions about this and I got the idea that most people said they can always disappear.)

the fact is: runes CAN poof on u even if they are socketed in an item for a runesword. Sometimes they might not either b/c they were legit or blizz didnt find them yet. my friend's enigma was destroyed during last summer on ladder east. the ber rune dissappeared so his dusk shroud became "jahith."

bricbac: no u would be able to trade those runes for enigma b/c ppl could assume that the jah was duped since there are so many duped HRs. Lum and pul runes are also pretty low lvl runes and are easy to get.

The runes in the runewords cannot disappear as a new Id was created after it was made. I know the two zerkers I got are infact duped, but i've had them for over a year and nothing has happened to them. Runes do not disappear, you're friend must of been smoking something.

not true.. i saw his armor. it was only "jahith" and he had an enigma the other day. blizz has ways of tracking down dupped runes. thats why we still hear stories that even after ppl cubed one duped rune and another legit rune to form a higher rune, that higher rune poofed on them. same concept for runes socketed in their items.

as for ur zerkers, u should consider urself lucky that blizz has not found them yet. blizz's scans are not 100% accurate so sometimes legit runes get poofed as well and dupped ones stay

Moreover, a ruststorm scan will poof your runewords if they have duped runes in them. We haven't seen one in a while, but one could happen at any time. Should that happen, a lot of people are going to be very unhappy to find themselves missing their high level runewords.

I always thought the runes, or other duped stuff like 290 sc or 40/15 jewels, would disappear when two people were in one game with the same kind of dupes. Kind of like you can't have the same character in the same game when using two computers.

Not so I guess, as someone gave me an account on East with four Ber and four Jah runes, three 40/15s three 290s. There the stuff sits side by side and, if my theory was accurate, all the stuff would be gone.

I think about 90-98 % of all Enigmas are dupes. I traded for one on west non-ladder and only play it in solo games anyway, hoping it will stay.

If I ever found or cubed a ber, jah, cham, or zod I would Never trade it.

How do you know for a fact the two zerkers are duped? If they have been around for a year, I'd be more confident to throw my cards on the 'non-duped' table, rather than 'duped'.

Really? Then how come they haven't been found yet? Most people I see all have an enigma and/or hoto. If blizz does a scan that wipes out at least 90% of all duped things, alot of people will be very sad.

Ugh, better keep doing Mephisto and Countess runs...

if 98% of the enigmas are duped.. i must have the 2% not duped... wow i feel special.

I only have an untwinked 'full clear once' Single Player perspective, and in that "world", Lum is one of my favourite runes. They are mainly used for three things:

* Upgrading exceptional unique weapons to elite (together with Pul)

* 'Smoke' armor (extra defense, great resists, FHR and Weaken charges)

* 'Lionheart' armor (good resists, extra damage, great bonuses to stats; unfortuantely, you also need Hel + Fal to make it)

Thanks for all the replies. And yes, my jah did disappear lol. I'm not upset over a silly game :). But I have another question I have to ask: What are considered HIGH runes? I have a gul rune, but it seems to be worth nothing compared to ists and other runes, but i quote from the USWest Price guide:
Ist = 3xUm
Gul = Ist + Pul
Vex, Sur = 2xIst
Ber, Ohm, Jah, Cham, Zod = 2xIst + Um
Lo = 3Ist

What's the problem?! Are gul runes now nothing?

On non-ladder, "high runes" are considered to be Ber, Jah, Vex, Zod, Ohm, and sometimes Cham.

On the ladder, I believe it's the same, except Lo is also included.

Gul runes are usually worth a few pgems at most on non-ladder, since they have very little use. On the ladder, you can cube higher runes with them, so they are worth more, but as far as I know, not enough to be consider them a "high" rune.

the ber rune dissappeared so his dusk shroud became "jahith."
The good news about this is that the disappeared rune is to be inserted last, so I guess adding Ber again will restore the runeword.

I had a Ber dissapear after a few hours from trading it so there are lots of dupes. Also made an Enigma and it's still there for now...
As for the runewords, I guess it depends how blizzard keeps record of them... If every rune keeps it's ID than the dupes will still have duped ID's so it would be possible during a ruststorm scan to find them and delete them (Although I wonder what if the Jah dissapers from the Enigma? U get 'Empty Ith Ber' or 'Ith Ber Empty'?)... On the other hand if the runeword gets a new ID as a whole than it would explain why the 2 Zerkers did't dissapear (because the Eth added made them get a new ID).
It is also possible (and likely) that both methods are used in which case ALL the items/runes used in making a runeword should be legit in order to last for a lifetime :D.
Anyone knows how long does a ruststorm scan take? I mean why don't they do it once a week or smth? Even daily?
It's ok that blizzard is focusing on WoW but they should have some staff on D2 just to keep this a hack/dupe free enviroment...

Are legit Unique Items socketed with duped runes considered legit? Or do they poof too?
