I did not write this but a post in generaal forum made me search my old emailboxes and i found this.... what do you think? Up the ribby in the cube add better Crushing Blow stuff, some new runewords could be good again. Anyone wanna work the kinks out and fix this guide?
The MONKADIN
Intro - aka WHY WOULD I DO THAT...
Because, after playing almost every variant out there I was
still left wanting. So if you are a Vegetarian (no cow lvl),
non-ith or dupe, using kinda player - looking for a real fun variant,
I present the MONKADIN. This is not for the fain of heart, it will take time, in fact your Monk does not really blossom till mid to late game.
Now why a Pally? Well, for asthetic reasons one simply has to pick a Pally. I know a Baba seems like a good choice with Mastery skill, BO, Nat Resist, Faster Run, WW (for mass attack) and Zerk (for the phys imune), but they just look too buff.
Whereas the Pally has the thin Bruce Lee kinda build, and has a religious tone to his skill tree, where all the skills have the right sounding kinda names: Zeal, Fanatacism, Conviction and so on.
Now to be true to the concept, one would have to only use ones hands - but as that is not really an option, I will accept the use of a Bo-Stick... um I mean Staff. Which brings me to...
WHAT TO WEAR????
In keeping with the Monk theme - nothing tougher than leather, or serpentskin. Monks just don't do Heavy Metal.
Weapon: a staff. Anything at first, one with sockets can help. Once you get to lvl 31 you can AND WILL use
Ribcracker
Quarterstaff
(57-66) - (146-173) Damage
130 Durability
25 Required Str
Item Level: 39
Clvl Req: 31
+200-300% Enhanced Damage
Adds 30-65 damage
50% Increased Attack Speed
50% Chance of Crushing Blow
+15 to Dexterity
+100 Defense
+100% Enhanced Defense (?)
50% Faster Hit Recovery
+100 Increased Durability
The IAS, Crushing and faster Hit Recovery are all VERY important.
Later (lvl 78 to be exact - unless you add a HEL rune lvl63) you may want to try
Naj's Puzzler
Elder Staff
(Elite Gnarled Staff)
200-232 Damage
35 Durability
44 Str required
37 Dex required
2 Range
10 Weapon Speed
Damage Bonus: 100 Str
Clvl Req: 78
Item Level: 43
+35 Energy*
+150% Enhanced Damage*
150% Damage to Undead
+30% Faster Cast Rate
+6-45 Lightning Damage*
+70 Mana*
+1 to All Skills*
Personally at lvl78 I'm loving my Naj - over 2.5K dam no problem (Zeal with Fanat. over 3.5K Veng/Fanat - Might merc turned off), but I think maybe I should have Hel'd it and gotten more use out of it.
BELT - String of ears - leach, and dam reduc, is too good to pass up.
GLOVES - Early: Hands of Brock, or Bloodfist, Later Venom Grip - a bit of Crushing, but I like Disciple Set gloves, IAS and 350% dam to Demons (which combined with the +dam to undead on all staffs covers lots of the bad guys you'll be beating to a pulp).
BOOTS - Oh I don't know. Some rare with Faster walk and resists - Waterwalk or Infernostride. - You decide, or go with the Disciple set boots - but you probably need resists!
ARMOR - Skin of the Viper goes pretty far, or nice rare, or socket some dusk shroud with ED jools.
HAT - Shako if you got one, Peasant Crown is nice, or a nice Pally Circlet with resists. I sorta like the way Rockstopper looks, but... ok so I break my own rules, and I don't have a Shako.
RINGS & AMMY - whatever you are lacking in resists and leech.
And for the ultimate accessory, your Merc... easy - you need a Might Merc.
OK, SO WAHT DO I DO WITH ALL THIS STUFF??? aka Skills.
I keep Zeal on hotkey #1 & Veng on #2 for left click. all the rest are keyed for the right click.
For sure 1st point into Might, then
Think Zealot. Zeal and Fanat (MUST MAX Fanat, Zeal only enough points to keep your To Hit % above 85. Take into consideration Fanat, and Dex and +skills - you might not need more than 4).
In Hell with the phys imune, you will also need to first Convince them with Conviction, then Fanat & Max Veng them to death.
At least a point in Vigor - if nothing else helps run around town and to get past the badguys to get your body.
And At least one in Salvation
At least one in Holy Freeze.
you will have points to spare, so maybe a few extra in might for the early lvl's - your call, I'm not going to hold your hand all the way... which brings me to
STATS
No Energy
Lots and lots of Strength
Enough Dex to Hit at 85%
Vitality the rest
New Thoughts - with 1.10 commin' and the new cubeable ribcracker will be insane, and with Zeal getting a dam bonus I think this build may be too easy... maybe no helm, and gloves?
