Question about 75% Max Block

I know there are formulas around but I find it a bit difficult to calculate since the amount of dex i need also varies on the level of holy shield i have...so thus i wanted to ask anyone who knows and is willing to help me...much appreciation !

say if i was level 95 with level 23 holy shield (base 1...22+ skills from combats and equipment) how much dex would i need to achieve the max block %?

hello viet, at level 23, holy shield gives +36 to block (you hit a breakpoint here, nice). i am assuming you are using a hoz, which has 82 block (even if upgraded to a zakarum shield). so, your shield's block is effectively 82 + 36 = 118. now, the formula for the dex to achieve max block is:

[150 * (char level) / (shield's block)] + 15 = dex
(note: we round up after the division i believe.)

plugging in the numbers, we get:

[150 * (95) / (118)] + 15 = 136, and so you'll need 136 dex. (i think this calculation is right, someone please double check this.)

i don't know about your armor, but if you happen to wear a guardian angel, then your shield's block is 138. and i'll let you plug in the numbers for that. :)

hi there herr... i must say thank you for a job well done.. HOZ was one of my shields i switch to but i plan on using Stormshield as the main one... the site sez they both have 77% block yet stormshield has a 35% faster block and 25% chance to block...HOz on the other hand has 30/30 so let me know if this is a significant change in dex that i mite need

viet, in the calculations above replace the "82" with "77" to get the dex needed for a stormshield. the increased chance to block gets applied to the base shield's chance to block. so, with hoz, the 30 gets added to a gilded shield's base 52 block for a pally, yielding the 82 listed at the arreat summit. likewise, the 25 increased block on a ss gets added to the 52 block of a monarch for pallies to yield the 77 listed. the faster block rate affects how many frames it takes for the block animation to occur and has nothing to do with the dex requirement. i'm assuming you'll block at 2 frames, but you might want to tweak it down to 1 frame if you are so inclined.

actually, come to think of it, i recall a thread from a long time ago where it was discussed that the only shield that can hit 1 frame block is griz's shield and even then it's not worth it. so, stick with the 2 frames.
